Have you figured anything out for this? What size and kind of bit do you want for this? and is that ipm or mm/pm?

I Have not used those. I use http://www.hsd.it/home.asp I have been very pleased with the performance. They are out of Italy and should be easy to find locally. I am sure you can find a VFD for them or they probably could recommend one. I upgraded from a heavy duty router and never looked back.  There is also http://www.pdscolombo.com/products.htm

Hi guys, Just thought I would come in and say hi. The other mods and I don't respond to every post in here but rest assured we read them all and are glad you are here!!

Just a side note. This thread is really just a place to drop in and introduce yourself. If you are having a specific problem please feel free to post in the general mach discussion and your chances of getting help will improve greatly. Please don't get me wrong we are not trying to ignore anyone we just are trying to keep this thread on topic :)

Any way.. If you are having a problem or just need some help please do drop in the main section and speak up!! That what this board is here for!

Thanks, and welcome!  It won't be long until you are hooked like the rest of us!! It is really a wonderful feeling going from a box of parts to something you draw on a computer and can then hold in your hand.. Have fun!

The grex doesn't care about the encoder inputs. I doubt it ever will. The Pixe's and a grex should work fine. ( I haven't tried it yet.)

Brian would be the one to ask about the Galil. He is the one working on that.

Without some more detailed info i am just going to make a stab at it.

You probably have to give your second nic a ip address. And you have to make sure that the grex has a similar address.

Comp (second nic) Sub net

Grex sub net

192.168.0.********* will work also just make sure it is different from the main nic.  You will probably have to use you hub to connect and change the ip to whatever you plan on using on your second nic..

Hi All.

Considering this was my mess I probably am disqualified from guessing but I will share some info that might help narrow things down a little.

I used a 2 flute high helix solid carbide end-mill.
The spindle speed was 5700 rpm.
The cut speed average was 24 ipm.
The stock started out at 2" x 2" x 3.5" - 6061 about 70% was removed.
The rough down was .250 depth of cut with .1 step over.
This was the 8th part cut that day.
It was 95 degrees in the shop.
The mill was controlled with a Grex and Mach.
I was wearing shorts and was probably drinking beer by then.
It filled a 20 gallon shop vac bag about 3/4 the way up. And it took me many hours to clean the mill.

Hope that helps!!

Oh and here is another pic that will make it easier to count the chips on the floor ;)

Welcome to the forums! Mach and cnc are a lot of fun to play with, soon it will be total addiction.

And I know that the powers that be would thank you for the kind words on Mach.
