General Mach Discussion / Re: Simplify Screen button
« on: November 27, 2006, 07:34:10 PM »
Recently I have been configuring a back up computer to run my machine and came across the "simplify screen" button on the lower left of the mach 3 main screen. I pressed this to see what it did and the screen went blank. Unfortunatly I have not figured out how to get the original screen back. Any help here would be appreciated. B. Ender

Well I guess you simplified it !  ;D  What version are you running? I just looked at the one i have here 2.01 and i don't see the button?

Any one know what this variable is called in the xml?

Or get another 24 vdc fan and wire the two in series ;)

HI Graham,

Sorry for the delay, I am biding on a $60k project and it has taken all of my time lately.

Any way here it is and i think it should work.

You will have to pick up at your local electronics store a 12 vdc wall plug.  according to peter you will have to isolate the 12vdc for the speed controller ( on the motor side) from the common on the machine. Personally i think it would work just fine but he says not to so better not. I did not show wiring from the jumper that connects to mach because i don't know how you want to hook it up, All of that is covered in the manual and should be pretty straight forward.

To change direction all you have to do connect the dir change relay, put +24vdc on one side of the relay connect that to the com then gnd the normally open. When mach sends the dir change the relay on the board will close and that will close the big relay going to the motor and reverse the direction. Depending on what way the big relay is wired you might have to reverse the wires, if forward is reverse and reverse ids forward.

If you have any further questions pleas drop me a line.

Here is the sch, it is quick and dirty but should get you by...

General Mach Discussion / Re: 25khz maximum

The grex uses Ethernet. At this time a licence file for mach three will remove the 1000 line limit for the grex also. When the grex is out of beta there will be a upgrade price. I don't think it will be to bad like an extra $50 or so ( don't quote me on that ).

The 25khz or 45khz is only an issue if you have high count encoders or really high gearing, or both. This basically just allows a faster pulse stream to come out of the parallel port. This also has no bearing on the grex. The grex is capable of 4mhz.

Hi benny, I have it on the back burner. There is a new F1 game for the ps3 that looks super cool ! and one of these would be great. We are open wheel racing guys and this would be a fun project.

Thanks for the files.

Boy that is strange. As much as i hate to pass the buck i would recomend giving bob a call and see what he says. I sounds like an issue in his board or in the charge pump.
It should be linear..

Ok so lets just assume for the moment that mach is sending what it should to the speed control.

The first thing i would do is make sure that the speed controller is scaling linearly with mach.  Set mach to 0 to 10000 max spindle speed. turn off the vfd and get your scope or volt meter out and look at the analog out of the speed controller.  If you set mach S1000 you should get 1v s5000 should get you 5v. Look at that then we will go from there.

Hey, what speed controller are you using? Could you tell us exactly what equip you are using and how it is all connected?

It should be possible to get it dialed in. On my big mill I just set the vfd at 18000 and switch it on and off. On my little mill i have a grex, so i use the analog out and it works pretty well.  I know that doesn't help , sorry, i have not used the serial control yet but we should be able to figure it out.

I don't know for sure but i think this is part of art's new auto xml backup system. I think you can expect to see a total of 21 of those as time goes on.  . X(xml)B(backup) ???

My understanding that this is the stock diameter. Also you can use 400.*************************** , it doesn't have to be an integer.
