General Mach Discussion / Debounce for MODBUS inputs
« on: September 08, 2007, 05:09:47 PM »
Hello guys,
I have a PLC connected via modbus to mach3, does the debounce setting affect this inputs? or just ones comming from the parallel port?.

I knew there was something fishy about those DSP.
One question though, are they closed loop when used in coonjunction with a servo? a lot of chinese made routers have these DSPs, but they charge it as an upgrade. I guess they must have file size limitations also. They say it is better because it is easier to use. I think they use mach 3 if you dont use a DSP.
Thanks Brian
and sorry for hijacking this thread.
Now Tim, im sure that if you can provide more information about your machine we all might be able to help.

Hey Brian,
You mentioned a DSP controller, ive seen a couple of machines that come with that. What is it? is it any good? is it better to run that kind of machine with mach3 instead of the dsp?

Forum suggestions and report forum problems. / Who stayed in charge?
« on: July 25, 2007, 12:12:23 PM »
Hi All,
Who stayed in charge in place of benny?

think most of us are not getting the new post indicators on each thread when you first access the forum.
I beleive this is because when from the main page http://www.machsupport.com/ you access the forum, then you get redirected to http://artsoftcontrols.com/forum/index.php instead of http://www.artsoftcontrols.com/forum/index.php
When you access the page without the www you dont get the new posts indicated, when you access the page with www you do.

Thanks
Fernando

General Mach Discussion / Re: Moving table VS moving gantry

Thanks Stephen,
I agree on all the points you said. We have not gotten into building the small machine for aluminum cutting, If we ever need one, i think i might go with chinese machines, cheap, look well built, and it they lack in some departments, theres room for improvement.

I wont be able to give you much advise on what you asked since I have only used Mach3, an amazing software by the way.

Hey Paul,
Thanks for your reply, well its something like that.

What I was looking for is how to program that in a cam program, I guess the design you drew wouldnt be so much trouble to program since you could draw that design as some lines that start joined at the shallow end, and begin separating as it gets deeper, and then you couuld program it by making a v-grove pattern, select a vgrove bit in the software and actually use a flat end mill on the job to get same width with a variation in depth.

But how could that be done if you would have a design like the one you drew, but with arcs joining the first and last grove, then another arc joining the second and second to last grove and so on, like a rainbow?
No problem drawing it, but the problem is when getting the code to machine that with a CAM package like Artcam.

General Mach Discussion / Re: VB Script re G68 to edge find

Great!
I just figured the math out... took a little bit to get the gears on my head going. But you are right, it is very simple

A couple of Y=mX+b, then just find the intersection of both curves by making one equal to the other, and that point becomes 0,0. now basic trigonometry on one of the curves to get the angle of rotation and thats it.

Brian, can the plugin be made so that you can add a compensation if you are using a touchplate on the side of the piece?

Again let me know if i can help.

Fernando
