General Mach Discussion / Re: Latest Backlash Comp behaviour on circles?

Read it already.

I guess when I re-read it .0005 is quite good. Hopefully I can get mine to be that close.

I guess I'm asking if there is a known issue with circles while in Backlash comp mode even with the Shuttle accel setting of .05 - .1 set correctly. Everything up to current I've read alludes to the idea that the circles are slightly or more so made oval under Backlash comp. while straight line moves are correct. I admit I have yet to try it with the latest settings. I have been busy cutting down and squaring the blocks that will later receive a hole cut of some sort.

Thanks

Kurt

Hello people,
I can't believe no one has any info on this. It has been an issue for some time if you read the posts on backlash comp.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Latest Backlash Comp behaviour on circles?
« on: October 30, 2007, 08:25:35 PM »
Hi all,

Just wondering how Backlash Compensation is working when cutting circles? I have not been using the B. Comp because the last time I did it ruined a part by creating an oval instead of a circle. I was having the problem of deceleration after a change of direction in x & y at the time and was unaware of the Shuttle accel. adjustment of .05 - .1. I have yet to make this setting as I've just learned about it here in the forum. I am wondering if accurate circles are simply unobtainable with B. Comp on even with the correct Shuttle accel. settings as in 2006 versions of Mach3.

I now have a part to cut that needs the accuracy of Backlash Comp, but also need accurate holes or circles.

Thanks

Kurt

General Mach Discussion / Re: What replaces G79 for Mach3?

Thanks Graham. I ended up using a different post that did something similar, replacing the G79's with G82.

General Mach Discussion / What replaces G79 for Mach3?

Hi all,

I am trying to create some g-code from VectorXT for use in Mach3.
The problem is the post processor is placing a G79 before the coordinates for the drill hole. I am using an isoacv10 post.
Is there a replacement just for this G79 or is there a good Post processor for use with Mach3, latest lockdown version.

Thanks

Hi again,

Well I upgraded to version 2.42 and still had the problem above. After disabling backlash comp the deceleration problem disappeared. There must be an issue with how the Backlash comp is implemented in the newer versions of Mach3. I will go thru the process to reset it and see what happens.

I also upgraded to version 2.3 of Mach3 from the previous lockdown version and am having the same problem # 1. When the direction of cutting in the x-axis or y-axis reverses, the feed rate briefly decelerates then accelerates back up to normal. Any subsequent move in the same direction is fine and moves normally, but when the direction is reversed the problem re-appears for the first move again. This happens for me while jogging the x and y axis'. The z axis doesn't seem to be affected.

I have noticed there is a newer version 2.42 available so I will see if it fixes the problem.

My axis' ran fine with a version prior to this.
