Un-freaking-real. Wow. You've got more patience than most of us, for sure. I see that some of the parts are cast. Whats the story behind that?

Glad you got it sorted. Be sure and post a pic of the end result. Once you post a work in progress, it's against the rules to not show the finished part.

That's a pretty small part. What size and type of cutter are you using?

Sounds to me like an option you should consider would be some one-on-one personal training. There is only so much a forum can do for you. Lots of us here do this sort of thing for a living, so we have YEARS invested in this craft. You will have to excuse us if we fail to meet your "instant" results for gratification. This is definitely not a "paint by numbers" sort of thing. Walk a mile in our shoes and pay your dues. Anger towards us is definitely uncalled for.

The thing I didn't like about them was the 30,000rpm limit. That would lower my travel speeds to slightly below the sound barrier. I'm just not ready to take a performance hit like that. If all you potentially loose is $37, then your more of a small lollipop than a sucker. I hope they work flawlessly!

One potential downfall that comes to mind (since were comparing them to calipers) is the ability to function at high speed. Now obviously, this is not a problem on calipers, and one would/should assume a motor encoder would have definitely addressed this. I would at least look into it before making a purchase, though.

That's a nice plane. Nice view of the country, too!

I would be willing to bet that more than one person will help you out with Lazy cam. There are free programs that will do what your wanting to do, however the learning curve would be just as great, or greater, as learning how to use Lazy cam. Your time would be better spent learning Lazy cam, too (in my opinion). Maybe you could post a drawing of what your wanting to do, so people can visualize your intentions better. Maybe create a new post in the "G-Code, CAD, and CAM" section, under "Lazy Cam (Beta)" and entitle it "contour with Lazy cam" or similar.  If you still don't get any help, consider giving away free doughnuts. Sometimes that will get peoples minds working.  :)

Is this a setting in a different peice of software like LazyCam or something?
Yes.
I am not familiar with LazyCam, so I can't tell you the steps to achieve a tool path.

have done other milling using the back and forth X Y method over the whole peice of material.
I am now assuming that you don't have a CAM program and used something like "picture to G-code" or something similar. Is this correct? If you DO have a CAM program, tell us what it is, and somebody with the proper experience can help you better.
