Dunno exactly what card you have, but I'm sure you could download the manual for the breakout board from CNC4PC. I wired mine with a small loop wire from the +5v to EN pin. I purchased mine quiet some time back, so be sure and look at the manual just to be sure on the voltages and such for the enable pin.

Taken from manual...

Enable Pin:
The card must be provided with a 5VDC signal to enable operation. This feature has been
added to enable you to control externally the status of the card. You can add en external
switch or a Safety Charge Pump to provide the enabling signal. When the enable signal is
not enabled, the communication with the computer is interrupted. If you need the
communication to be enabled at all times you can provide the 5 volts directly from the source
that is powering the card.

General Mach Discussion / Re: What kind of tool it this

It's a positive stop grooving tool. Prolly a dozen names for it. Because its a positive stop, you can also face with it. They sure beat the heck out of allot of other parting tools. They do have there downfalls though, diameter of cut being one.

It is aggravating when programs don't offer the option of "associate with files" during installation. Keep in mind that some do offer this, but only if you select the "custom installation", rather than "typical" installs. I can live with one or two file association changes, but when a program handles multiple files and changes all of them without asking, and you spend lots of time changing them back, I feel it should be only fair to send them a bill to compensate you for your time. Keep in mind too, that if a program didn't associate itself, it would open up a whole new can of worms for those that are less computer literate. Would Autocad override Vectric or another software if you installed it second? I think that most programs just try to make it as easy and painless as possible using the settings that the average user would want.

"Gas springs" are the proper term. McMaster-Carr carries them and light duty ones are very cheap. Looks great so far, keep us posted on the progress!

Place the license.dat file in the mach folder (Usually C:\Mach3). If you have done that already, run Mach, then navigate to the "Help" tab at the top, and then click "About Mach3 CNC Controller..." Your registration name should be listed there. It should not report as being a demo. I don't think the demo ever cut out the code, but rather it just would not run beyond a certain line. If that does not solve your problem, try re-installing. If that does not solve your problem, please attach your code using the "additional options" feature when you post a reply. There *could* be an error in your code.

Don't forget.....my 20% "idea" fee straight off the top. If you use anybody else idea, I still get my 20%, plus they may charge you an additional fee. I know this may sound outrageous, but you have to understand that ideas don't just grow on trees, plus you get the easy part of material handling, machining, the joys of marketing, paperwork, etc....  The more I think about it, the more I realize I'm getting the shaft at 20% and your getting the gold mine.

"why.....it's gettin' so a man cain't make a dishonest livin' no more"

I was thinking it was for a model train or similar. I bet those model guys would go CRAZY over something like that, especially if they got to pick out a custom terrain of there choosing. I'm sure the scale would have to be much larger, but it's an idea anyhow.

That's very interesting, Arnie. What are you going to do with it?
