General Mach Discussion / Re: What is a "MODERATOR"?
« on: January 15, 2010, 01:30:12 AM »
I think the only reason why I'm still around is because I make a mean margarita, and I'm a decent cook.  Definitely allot of non-moderators have forgotten more than I will ever know. :-\ I think why it seems like there are so many moderators, is because were always here. Most of us are not shy in contributing, so there are a great deal of post that have responses by moderators, making our presence even more known. Right now it's 1:00a.m. in my timezone, and I just stopped by to check the new post, and make sure that there are no post trying to sell viagra, prozac, sex, or any other crap. I think that's pretty much a routine for all of us responsible for the upkeep that goes on behind the scenes. We haven't had to do much recently though, as I think Brett pretty much made spam an endangered species around here with changes to the way the forum works, and made it painless for newcomers to join in without a background check and 3 forms of I.D.

Is it that 'moderators' are the only ones that 'should' be answering newcomers' questions on this forum?
Absolutely not! I do know what you mean, though, about not speaking up. Normally when Hood, Himmy, or others give input, I just sit back and try to learn something.

Another benefit is that you can let your CNC do it's thing, and you can work on something else.
Nice Gerry, I like it.

Who's this "Chris Botha" they reference to in the instructional videos???  ;)

That's pretty neat Tweakie. You can really tell a difference after you put some finish on it, hugh. Makes it pop right out.

Maybe get DSL soon.....I hope.
I've been saying that for many years. As the phone tech said..."in this economy, we ain't expanding s**t!"

mrmodfi: there is no way to resize, other than resizing before you upload them. Also, there is no way to view pictures in any other size, than what they are uploaded as. Basically, the uploader has control of how people view their pic.

Most photo editing software has the capability of resizing pictures. "Paint" that comes with windows will do this. Always save to JPEG (jpg), and select a quality of 90 or lower, as this will lower the file size dramatically. (be kind to us dial up users please) Your teenager was most likely setting your camera up to take quality photo's, and this is normally a good thing to do. If your taking photo's of the family or whatever, you would probably want them in the best quality possible. It's just not ideal for sharing on the web. I don't want it to sound like I'm taking up for your teenager, but......I'm taking up for your teenager on this one :)

Did you ever get the Hyster finished? I Looked on your photobucket page but didn't see any pics of the completed project.
