Looks like it's coming along nicely. Lots of pictures to look at this time around! Thanks for the update.

You know your gonna have to give us a demo of how it sounds when your done. Looks nice.

That's one way of looking at it I guess.  8)  The cutters might be cheap, but all the wax I've seen, is pretty pricey. How much did you contaminate Chris? Any way to get it separated? Maybe heat it up really hot and let the heavy stuff settle? Small screen?

I see a major problem. The Captain Morgan cup is EMPTY! You'll be making chips before ya know it. Is there going to be a transformer for each axis?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Freeing the motor to avoid overheating

If the motors were free, they would loose position. This may or may not be of importance in your situation, however it's generally not desirable for most. As Rich stated, motor heating is not a problem if everything is set up correctly. Most of the time more heat is generated from cutting a 3d code, rather than just sitting idle with a auto current reduction drive.

That's pretty slick. Thanks for sharing.

Share Your GCode / Re: Roadrunner.dxf?
« on: February 17, 2010, 02:32:17 PM »
Here's a couple files. TOONS.dxf has both Wile E. and a RR.   They are made up of mostly arcs.
RR.dxf is the original mach version of the RR converted using DXF to Gcode. You can find that here.... http://www.cnczone.com/modules/Downloads/userfile.php?id=22
You will have to clean out the rapid lines of the dxf produced, but it's still a great tool. Depending on your desired results, it might be a better idea to make a new RR file, as the one that comes with Mach is made of double lines, and all segmented. Not really the greatest quality code, but it's better than nothing.

Yeah, I figured the original was random, but didn't know if you were trying to maintain accuracy.

To do the full Death Star would cost much more wealth than I can imagine, and the space needed at this scale would be insane.
Didn't realize it was that big! However, I'm just going on faint memory from the movie. So what are you going to do with it?

Looks interesting! Thanks for sharing. Did you have any pics of the details to model by, or did you use random greebles? Is the end product going to be a death star, or are you going to leave it flat?
