well.....I mean....considering the investment (time and money) that you have already put forth in this project, I would go for the ball screws. If it were me, the delrin and acme screws wouldn't have even entered my mind. Great job so far, by the way. Keep the pics coming!

In the "Config" menu at top left, select "general config" then change the "IJ mode" from "ABS" to "INC".

Atta boy, Chris!!!
At the first of June it was...."my wifes first multisided index job!"
Now it's...."my wife does all my milling... she does virtually all my pathing as well....can write a complex multipass multiangle path"

Now THAT'S what I call training. Nice job letting her know that she 'still ain't there yet' by complaining about layer colors. You can't let them get too sure of themselves, or they might start thinking they are closer to an equal, rather than an underling. The next time she's working on something, step in and change some tiny thing that don't even make sense. Of course she will say "why did you do that for?" Upon which you will reply some totally off the wall crap, that you make up in your head such as..."Because that's the way it has to be done. Otherwise, the tool used at that spindle speed, cutting WX-233 impregnated wax in a microdyne constorted fashion, would surly make a mess of things in a hurry. I won't even go into the other mistakes I see because we can live with them for now. The important thing is...your getting there, but there's still a looooong way to go"
Then you can walk off, and go finish watching how Shaggy and Scooby solve there latest mystery, or Meerkat Manor or something.
Awesome job, Chris.

Awesome (again). Kinda reminds me of the makerbot  or fab at home stuff.

Well, I think I'm about ready to purchase a spindle motor for the mill in progress, however, I'm about as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to choosing a motor. I'm thinking a VFD with a good 3 phase motor would be great, but I really don't know enough to make an educated decision. I've seen that I can get a new 3hp Baldor or Leeson motor for about +/- $200 delivered. I've dug up some specs on some motors, but I really don't know what I'm looking at.

2 or 4 pole? Pro's and con's? I would like to have more power at slower speeds, rather than higher, so I guess a 4 pole is more desirable?
What about VFD options to look for? Needed inputs/outputs for features that might be useful, relays, braking features, fieldbus options, etc.... I have a small bit of experience with the Danfoss drives, and I know they are quality drives, plus and I have a local supplier, so I'm kinda leaning toward those.

I know I'm asking allot, but any help at all is appreciated. Thanks!

A wise choice, in my opinion.

Glad to hear you got it sorted!

Your moving right along with that V8. Very nice, I must say. Thanks for taking the time to share your progression with us.
