Tangent Corner / Re: How would you clamp this?

Very true Gary. Just figured it was a larger quantity. One can always "make do" for just one or a small quantity. So, Jimster...what is the part? It's got one of those "Ive seen that somewhere" looks to it.

Agreed...sub plate is the way to go on that. If its critical, I would drill, and likely ream to fit shoulder bolts OR two dowels and use other two holes to bolt down with. Then go back after all is finished and drill out to size.

FAQs / Re: Mach3 Going Crazy On Small Part

Most likely the "I-J" mode is set incorrectly. It is located in the menu CONFIG>GENERAL CONFIG. I would recommend setting it in the code itself, and not the menu, with G90.1 or G91.1
If this does not fix your issue, attach the code in a reply and we will have a look.

Have a look at the sample issue of digital machinist. There is an EXCELLENT write-up on mach entitled "how mach3 continues to amaze me". The first paragraph describes exactly what you are asking. I would advise anyone to read the entire write-up, or even the whole issue, as it really is a gem. http://www.digitalmachinist.net/

Sounds like what your seeing is a factor of your machines resolution. Mach is open loop, and therefore could not report back the differences even if it did move more or less than commanded. What your seeing is mach rounding the movement to the nearest step your machine is capable of making. Take for instance the 3.0035"....another step up or down of the motor, would have put you beyond the 0.0035 length, therefore, 3.0035 was simply the closest that could be achieved.

You use smooth steppers on all your machines, don't you Hood? I would also like to find a good mobo, but capable of running Mach through the PP. Have you tried any of your mini's without the SS?
