I would agree with BR, as to looking into the manual. It is really well written, and goes into detail about things that you probably didn't know possible.
Dunno if this will help you out any, but I commonly use this facing program. It should be good enough for an introductory. Change numbers as desired....

Wow Greg, looks like your gonna be giving advise with Tweakie, rather than receiving it, in a short time. I'm envious of you both.

I know a fellow who stored an engine block in an old dirt floor shed for 20+ years. He coated it with never-seize (or similar), and it worked like a charm. I'm sure there are better solutions, but that's the first thing that pops into my head.

General Mach Discussion / Re: ONE of THOSE days (;-(

If it helps your argument out any Terry, I too have had crazy movement like that. My parts were like... with a 2 inch or so circle. Hit cycle start, watch it go! woohoo! change part in vise, rinse/repeat, rinse repeat. Then all of a sudden the train veers of course for some unknown twilight zone moment, and scraps a part. Mach knew exactly what it was doing, too, as it represented the whacked out movement in the toolpath view. Those times are few and far between, but I CAN say it has happened.

Note to self DOn't cut large circles with arcs use segmented code
Why on earth would you want to go to the darkside like that. That is NOT The Way, Terry.  The force is strong with G2/G3.
Besides, I thought you and Vader were kickin' it old school down at the tracks anyhow?  8)

The eagle gets to keep it's eye. With my luck, I woulda broke a tiny drill bit right off, and scrapped the whole thing anyhow.  ;D

OK Sam spill the beans - How did you get that much swarf from one little engraving ?
>:D That was a little trick I tried to mimic from the many hours of watching David Marks "Wood Works" show. At the end of the show, he would always show the final project with wood chips scattered about.
What really peaks my interest, is how much detail a person could get into that part if it were anodized and dyed black, and you had, say, I dunno....a cnc laser or something. 8)  If I could somehow justify the cost, I would most definitely like to have one!
My friend wanted an Apache helicopter engraved, but there was just no way to put that much detail into it, and still look halfway decent.

Rich, I am indeed wanting to do some inlay work, but as most things, just can't seem to make the time for it. It is on the "list", however. Nice job you done.

I don't know about you, Tweaks, but I feel cheated. To make matters even worse, he even referred me to this thread. He's probably laughing maniacally at the both of us, right now.

Made this master cylinder cover for a friends murdercycle. Went a couple thou to deep with the center drill and lost a bit of detail, but hey, it's not bad for using a center drill as an engraver.
