General Mach Discussion / New to Lathe
« on: May 04, 2009, 06:59:31 AM »
OK so i have been using Mill for a while and i am close to setting up my lathe.

I am testing the ports and pins side of things not connected to a machine but ive had the motors running off the machine

I am using an index pulse card for homing on the lathe but to be fitted on the mill later so this is my first experience of them.

I say SET HOME POSITION the digits increase i activate the pulse.

I then zero the axis then move away by MDI

Then i say go to home. But it just moves back to Zero the index pulse is ignored

This is not the case on the mill it hits the switch to home

Using a SS the ports are setup on port 3

Thanks
Phil

SmoothStepper USB / MPG on port 3 problem
« on: May 04, 2009, 05:00:00 AM »
I have some movement using the MPG

But only forward and it is erratic

The pins on port 3 SS are marked 1 to 6

1 to 3 are inputs

4 to 6 are encoders

So that makes 9 pins numbered 1 to 6  ???

Any other help appreciated in setting the ports and pins correctly on port 3

Thanks
Phil

General Mach Discussion / Deleting spammers
« on: October 09, 2008, 01:47:13 PM »
Just an idea mods but if everyone who has a certain amount of posts behind them were allowed to delete the spammers.

This would/could cut down the work for the mods who could then confirm deletion.

Obviously anyone abusing the privilege would/could be deleted themselves. ;D

General Mach Discussion / Scripting Help Tool Zero
« on: August 13, 2008, 08:57:15 AM »
Hi all,

I am using an Auto Tool Zero and it works very well but i want to add to it and i'm not sure what i need to do to achieve my goal.

I want to add or subtract a figure so my tool height reads correctly i guess it is an offset im looking for.

So what i am doing at the moment is touching top of workpiece "Z reads Zero"

I move away use MDI G0 Z0 then change the Z dro  to what i actually want, 12mm in this case

I have my dro on the screen but it does not do anything i want to add 12 in that dro and when i touch off my Z reads 12

Easy peasy when you know how, but unfortunately i do not. :-[

Thanks

As title, they were very good on price.

But more importantly the guy in their service dept was very patient with me getting the inverter to work the way i wanted

"If The inverter Trips Into Overload It triggers An EStop in Mach"

So i would heartily recommend them if you are looking to buy and are in the UK.

General Mach Discussion / Wow lathe looks so different to mill
« on: April 28, 2008, 06:02:02 PM »
I have finally been doing some cutting rather than cussing since i have got my new motor and VFD working.

My next project is the lathe, but you can't get Mach Mill mixed up with Mach Lathe can you  ;D ;D ;D

I hope its not gonna be another long and winding road to CNC utopia  :-[

When i run code all G0 moves slow the spindle 50%

I also set the spindle running and then jogged the length of the table, again the spindle immediately dropped 50% while jogging, then sped up when stopped.

Is the how it's meant to be ?

Are there any settings that can be adjusted.

Version 2.63, CNC4PC C11g BOB

Thanks

There are conditions attached, the $2 million must be collected in person by your great great great grandparents  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for looking and i am really desperate.

I am using a RF31 mill from http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axminster-RF31-Vertical-Mill-Drill-21299.htm these are also sold under Chester/Warco in the UK and i believe cnc jnr in the US of A uses the same mill.

I need some info on the wiring to the motor, a complete breakdown "Idiots Guide" as you will know i am electrically challenged as it says in my sig

I needed to take the motor off and it was some time before it went back on, it does work but it is getting a bit hot 76' C to be exact so i am thinking i have got something wrong.

What i need is the live and neutral connections when running forwards then reverse to the motor terminals.

Begging
