General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle problem need help
« on: September 01, 2010, 04:58:49 AM »
The VFD is a sensorless vector drive? Problem may be is the change in inertial mismatch when you go from one belt to the other. Most VFDs only have one set of tuning parameters. You may need to get a VFD that can handle two sets of tuning parameters. I have a Cerus (Made by LG) that can handle two sets and switch between the two with one of the VFD's inputs.

Or is it the adjustments in mach you are referring to? Need more info.

Yeah, the MPG is sluggish. Almost the point of uselessness. I went through the trouble of rewiring my encoders to pins 1 and 2 and no increase in response. Hope this update fixes the problem. If not I will install a second parallel port card and connect the encoder to that.

Brains Development / Spindle% in MachTurn
« on: October 28, 2009, 02:50:50 AM »
I am using a Pokeys with Hood DRO code to do the spindle override. The brain viewer shows it is outputting 0-150% to Spindle% termination output as I turn the knob but the spindle stays the same speed. Hood is using it with MachMill. Should this work with MachTurn? Is Spindle% screenset dependent?

Nix that on the button presses. Mach is still slow to respond to them. I have to hold them down for a good quarter second before it will respond.

I am willing to give a different version a try. Know where to find the installer?

Try that plugin. It will be officially released in few days.

Boris

Well, it didnt do anything for the MPG, but button presses are now more responsive.

Dont do this in a brain. I have my lathe set up like yours and none of this is done with software. All though relays or chained together. What servo drives are you using?

Hood, I tried your brains as well and they freaked out mach. Weird.

So I copied them from scratch. They mostly work for me. The feature of going into feedhold works fine when you turn it down. But it does not come out of feedhold on turning up. OEMLED 805 never seems to come on during feedhold. Weird. I look in brain viiewer and it never activates. I also use the OEMLED 805 to activate the feedhold pushbutton on the panel as well.

Second thing is the spindle override is not working. The viewer shows Spindle% varying between 0-150% as I turn the knob but it does not effect the spindle.

Any ideas? I am posting this to yahoo as well.

Found the jitter problem. It was because of the development version of mach installed. Went back to the lockdown and all is good on that front.

The MPG still sucks though.

Nope, no noise as far as I can tell. The pokeys encoder part of the app keeps track of the position of the encoder perfectly.

I did make a mistake in my description of the issue though. In single step it move one increment and stops. it wont move any further in that direction. In multistep mode it moves randomly.
