« on: November 01, 2006, 06:31:34 PM »
Hehe, glad to see some good piss taking in here!

Now I'll say what everyone said to me when I ripped the original controls out of my machines.

"You don't want to do that, It'll never work again" hehe

To give you encouragement THEY WERE ALL WRONG!  and now have to pick their chins off the floor when they see em running ;)

My VMC has been running 10 hours a day 7 days a week quite a lot recently.

OK Winters come, well at leasy here it has ;)

Lets see more of your machines, and the bigger the better.

I need inspiration to get my ass back in gear!

and if there's some fit girlies with cnc's I wanna know about it hehe......

Hood

Got your beast installed yet?

No news for me, too busy trying to earn enough to keep the hungry Hardinge moving along!

As others have said very nice especially in the enclosure.

I have an Orac in storage, may never get around to it LOL....   They seem a fairly rugged little lathe.

Re the teknix drives.

So far so good, although this week I've been too busy doing paying work to get anymore time on the Hardinge.   Always the same at end of month:(

Next test is to try the drive on the Z axis, and see how fast it really can go!

Call me cynical but I often wonder if the Rutex drive is really capable of delivering the current they claim.  There does seem to be a fair few people who have blown them up when reaching machine limits.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 for vertical lathes?
« on: September 26, 2006, 01:28:20 PM »
Personally I cant really see any need to rotate the toolpath view even if it is a vertical lathe.    Hardly going to confuse the operator.

Did your old controls have a toolpath display?

There is no reason Mach can't control your machines, as long as you can interface to Mach, and in most cases thats not much of a problem.

Thanks Brian...   I tend to go over the top sometimes, but that comes with being a fussy bugger!

It's just I have to rely on these machines to earn a living, and taking shortcuts only come bite your ass later..

Hood, Only what you see above, plus I've been getting ready to fit the new 5 port valves.   Although they cost me a fair bit, I'm pleased I shouldn't have to worry about them leaking for a long time!

A lot of the nylon tubing in the valve cabinet is being changed for new Polyurethane stuff, more flexible, and easier to route.

Turret encoder has a new cable attatched and will go back on next week.

Z axis motor now fitted to the machine on it's new mount, and the pulleys line up perfectly now.

Jobs still to do are many!   But fortunately not so much more money!   In actual fact when finished about 90% of the electronics etc will be all brand new.   Only things still original will be the Iron and a fair bit of the Pneumatic tubing.   Even the windows will be new!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Acceleration problem
« on: September 23, 2006, 04:16:50 PM »
This is a question for Art I think!

You can see the same if you move one axis backwards and forwards the same distance(say -100mm to +100mm to -100mm)and keep repeating .  as you increase the feedrate the distance moved becomes shorter and shorter.

Your problem as you realise if a result of CV mode.   To achieve CV Mach HAS to do corner blending, otherwise it's Exact stop mode.

I'm not sure what the angular discrimination tick box is for in config, but it's almost sounds like what we had with Heidenhain control parameters.

These controls would do the corner rounding but ONLY if the change of angle was below a value stored in the the parameter table.   Heidenhain used to recommend it was set to no higher than 30 degrees.

Anyone know what the angular discrimination box is for?

But I would do as Hood suggested.   In my cam package I can put in manual code anywhere in the program.
