I solved the problem by buying a pci paralell port card for the pc. Then I can use my old cable with 25 pins. A $30 fix

Ahhh. So there is no easy fix with the cable I have?  
Does the external motion controller replace my breakoutboard?
Do you connect the stepper controller to the external motion controller or do you connect the stepper motors directly to the external motion controller?
Is the external motion controller an all-in-one controller?

I have mill that have worked fine through 8 years. I connect the pc to my "electronic box" by a 25 pin serial cable. The serial cable i connected to the breakoutboard. From the breakoutboard it is connected three stepper motor drivers and then cable to the steppermotors.
This might be an old configuration, but i has worked fine.
What I need is to get the pc to "speek" to my "electrodnic box" . USB out and serial in. Is that possible with my old setup?
Do I need to buy a motion control board? Isn't that what I have in my box?

My old computer with a 25 pin Serial port crashed.
My "New" pc don`t have this port. Only USB. My breakoutboard has the 25 pin Serial so I bought a adapter USB to 9-pin to 25 pin and hoped this would solve my problem.
I installed the driver, but I can`t get my mill to life.
Can someone guide me through Mach3 settings to set up my New cable?

I think I have the same problem. I tried to add G61 and my corners are not rounded anymore 
Just now I am working on a project that has sharp corners and rounded shapes. If I add G61 in the beginning the sharp corners are beautiful, but the rounded shapes take forever to make because the router stops on every coordinate. Is there any way to get sharp corners and speed up the rounded parts?

(My project is designed in ArtCam and contains 50.000 lines)

This setup is what I found on Keling Incs homepage.
The pin between pin 2 and 3 are 5V+. I put a wire from this pin and to the driver instead of from the 5V power supply. I also did some changes i the Mach3 setup an d now it is working fine. I don't know if it was the wire or the Mach3 modification that did it. But it works.

It should be right forward. When I was finished and connected to my PC and started Mach3, nothing happened.
I have my motors on my desk, just want to see them move when I run the “Roadrunner” G-code. I was quite disappointed when I just heard a ”tic” from time to time.
I tried to change the pins for output, but no. Nothing. I have tried to change many variables. Nothing happens.
If ther is some one “out there” with the same package, let me hear from you.
I have to mention that I could not use the power supply that was set up with the package. In Norway we have 230V. I bought two new power supplies. One 24V, 1.9A and one 6V supply (this one can be regulated down to 4.5V and up to 7.5V). When I measure the 24V supply the meter shows 23.5V (is this critical?). In the specs for the breakout board it says 24-40V

Hi everybody.
I am "normann" and my location is in Norway. I am new to the cnc hobby, so I think I will come up with many questions. I have just finnished my own router gantry design, and now it is time to wire the electronics. I will make a post of all the problems that I am meeting. I am looking forward to spend some time in this forum among you expirienced cnc'ers.
