Do you mean doing something like this??  (I am not sure so i am asking)

"I assume your goal is for each E-Stop switch to kill power to all motors and signal the Mach 3 controller."   Yes

"can you run dual contacts on each estop switch?"  I do not know the answer to this

"my arms are not long enough to fix this issue...."   That's just too funny!!   :)

"is this something you bought" Originally yes. The board in the black box failed and I obtained a G540 to control the motors. Gutted the black box and wired the G540 through the silver box.  (Necessity is the mother of invention. Dumb luck covers the rest)

"what kind of breakout board motion controller do you have and what is the black box" -  none - black box powers the spindle which is manually speed controlled via the dial on the box.  See attached photo

Let me ask the question another way...

Imagine I have the following two controllers both working different sections of my CNC. The black one controls the spindle and the other controls the motors through a G-540.  All work fine except the e-stops.

How would I wire the e-stops so they both work on both systems WITHOUT blowing up either controller??

Currently, the black box e-stop kills the spindle, but does not show up on the mach3 screen or kill the second box.
The second box e-stop kills the 3 motors, does not kill the black box, but DOES show up in Mach 3

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Connecting multiple e-stops & need some help
« on: March 22, 2020, 03:39:19 PM »
I have 2 e-stops and I am trying to wire them in series to a g-540 and have them read on the Mach 3 screen.  I can get one or the other to work, light up / lock out on mach-3 screen, but not the second. The second works, but does not lock out the mach 3 screen. I am not sure if my issue is in software or wiring.

I am also confused why some of the things i see for e-stop settings show I should be using port and pin 1 - 10 for my e-stop settings when port and pin 1-15 is the only one that seems to work. port and pin 1-15 is what i am using

Would anyone have a pictorial schematic of how to correctly wire the e-stops and know what setting should be used?

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys.  I'm going to reinstall mach3 and see if it makes it better.   I'll let you know how it goes next weekend.

I redid this morning. Came back with same settings as before.  :(

X & Y
steps- 400
Velocity 3000
Acceleration 425

Material size on file shows as X=10.0 Y=10.0 Z=0.99

Actual cut size is about 3/4 inch square...... 10 inch is about 254 mm so its not just switching to mm somehow

I can manually run table entire width and length. Tried multiple files all run tiny.  Machine is set to Inch. Aspire is set to Inch. Files show to be Inch.

Thanks for any help, ideas or things to try

New install. I have the unit set in mach3 for inches. Created a file in Aspire 10. Uploaded the file into Mach3 on Vista machine with windows 7 upgrade. All looked good so I hit run.  Code runs, I get movement but its very, very small movement.  I have a setting wrong someplace...  post processor is Mach3 2/3 arcs Inch  ( not sure if that is the correct one to use) ---  ideas, suggestions?

Thanks in advance
