General Mach Discussion / Re: Video Card
« on: November 27, 2007, 11:12:42 AM »
Hey,
Was gone for ThanksGiving weekend, just  got a new computer after 5 years...my P4 3.0 kicked the bucket

I found it on ebay:

-Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6700 Quad Core (4 processors!!!  :o)

-Asus Striker Extreme LGA 775 SLI ATX Motherboard

-EVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS Video Card (Swich this out for a Nvidia Quadro 1400 PCI-E 16X)

-Two 750GB (1.5TB) SATA II Hard Drives (Raid 0)

-4GB PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM

-Dual 20X DVD Burner

I can OverClock @  3.744 GHZ  for each of the cores at a 3663 FSB :O...my feet are getting alittle warm thou :)
(Haven't OC it thou)
...like running a Core 2 Due @ 14.976 GHZ

I would not suggest the Asus Striker motherboard...unless you have alot of time to set things up on it..without breaking it.
Great for 3d modeling CAD/CAM work, but since everything is so new alot of Driver and software updates every month.

I would suggest running this computer in 64bit to take advantage of the 4gb ram...

I'm using a AMD64 3800 with 1gb RAM and Nvida Quadro 1400 PCI-e 16X to run Mach on my machine.

Great deal and an amazing card...I think those should be going for around $599.99 is the cheapest I could find retail? Nice :)
Don't forget to download from Nvidia the updated "ForceWare"... It will have preset setting for most programs and drivers to meet top performance, for example Catia,Mastercam...3d max,Maya...Photoshop and such...

General Mach Discussion / Re: VB Labels does anyone have them??
« on: November 18, 2007, 03:48:34 AM »
Hey Scott,

In Flash to recive it's simply:

myvariable0 = _root.USERLABEL0
myvariable1 = _root.USERLABEL1

or to send:

Fscommand("_root.USERLABEL0", "this is sent to userlabel 0")
Fscommand("_root.USERLABEL1", "this is sent to userlabel 1")

I haven't had a chance to test these in VB but  this would be my quess.... not sure:

myvariable =GetUserLabel (0)
myvariable1 =GetUserLabel (1)

Hey Ron,
I personally will only use the Nvidia Quadro's and they are made for CAD/CAM work.http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_11761.html.
I have bought many video cards with large ram but always the Quadro's run much better. I have an Nvidia Quadro FX1100 at 128mb of ram that will out perform an ATI at 512mb ram. The Quadro's are not cheap thou, but they can save hours of rendering time. If you’re interested check eBay they will be a third of the price. If it's out of your price range and your computer is equipped with it go for a PCI-E X16 card...otherwise the cheapest would to find a Gforce with 256mb memory to handle your CAD/CAM packages.

Mach Screens / Re: Zoom toolpath display using button???
« on: November 02, 2007, 03:59:12 AM »
this is on my wish list as well...maybe even zoom and pan to a given area in the Gcode...let say if you could send zoom to:  X0,Y0,Z0 or something like that would be cool :)

I see what you’re saying, I’ll try exporting it again, I used screen 4 to assemble it and followed the default Mach dimensions. I would post the raw files but I constructed it in flash and exported as a JPG :(

Sorry about the delay I've been out of town
I'd love to help  ;D
Let me know which way your thinking....I'm wondering if using Flex and AIR would be the best way.
