General Mach Discussion / Re: Version 2.4.2

Here is the 1024.set file that came with my original installation. Up until I upgraded to the latest version. It worked beautifully.

Art, I downloaded the latest version 2.4.2 as an update and there seems to be a bug. Whenever I try to change the screen set from the standard version to the plasma screen set. The program momentarily hangs up, then nothing. It stays the same. I've tried all of the other screen sets to see if is just the plasma set to no avail. The reason I like the plasma screen on my mill is because of the large tool path display. It's easier on the eyes for those of us with poor eyesight.

Is there anything that these cards are best suited too? Like, would they be of any use on lets say a Harbor Freight bench top lathe where microstepping would be of little use? For what I paid for it, including shipping. I'd like to find some value for my hard won dollar.

Is it running XP Professional or is it running XP Home? I'm only going by what Microsoft tells me. Remember the so called technicians at Dell and the other retailers that you converse with over the phone are not A+ Certified Tech's. For the most part they're reading questions and answers from a prepared script. As an A+ tech for the past 8 years, I've asked these same technicians a question and have had to wait 3 or 4 days for an answer.

I was in conversation with an escalating engineer at Microsoft on a problem I was having with a customers computer repair. I was told that most of the computer suppliers who were selling new dual core systems to prospective customers were doing so because they were going to be offered free upgrades to the new Vista operating system and that the cheaper At Home version was a cost saving.

For anyone else thinking of using a duo core processor driven computer computer. Regardless as to whether it be an Intel or AMD product. Be aware that you have to use WINDOWS XP Professional with Service Pack 2 and not Windows XP at Home. The At Home version is not capable of using both processors and the floating point unit of the the processor will only function at half speed.

As a user of the software put out by Vectric.com of which I have great admiration for. I was considering purchasing their Cutout 3D and using the DAVID scanner to create 3D files to enhance my business. The reason I mentioned the software from Vectric is that their software works perfectly with Mach3, unlike some other packages that I won't mention. I've looked at the probe files listed at artsoftcontrols.com and it became quite clear that probing a 3D object could necessarily tie up ones machine for day's at a time to create the cloud points needed to re-create said odject. I figured this would be a more efficient use of ones tome.

I ordered the card setup for half steps and the motors I ordered are from Keling Tech. The part number is listed as KL34294-43-8B.

Would one be able to integrate the 3D Scanner from www.interinar.com into Mach3 or would you still have to use their drivers and controller?
If not the 2.5 D Scanner known as DAVID would be far cheaper as the software for 3D scan conversion is considerably cheaper than what the the whole package would cost for the other version.

Is anyone here familiar with these 3D scanner's listed at this site www.interinar.com, and whether or not it could be integrated into Mach3 or another listed at www.david-laserscanner.com. I figure these type of scanner's would be quicker and cheaper to use rather than using a probe.
