General Mach Discussion / Spindle RPM
« on: December 30, 2008, 04:35:52 PM »
I am using a CNC4PC index pulse card.  The sensor is a photo transistor.  I think the problem I am having has to do with the slot with of the sensor disk.  I would like to know those of you who are using a photo transistor and a slotted disk for your RPM sensor, what slot width are you using in the disk.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Hall RPM sensor
« on: December 26, 2008, 07:54:00 PM »
My Hall effect limit switches worked so well, I decided to make a Hall speed sensor for my mill’s quill.  You can read the dirty details here:

or

The bottom line is the sensor works to my mills 4,000 rpm limit and down to 60 RPM.  Below 60 RPM Mach displays 0.

General Mach Discussion / Spindle speed
« on: December 22, 2008, 09:14:48 PM »
I have been running my spindle from the speed control on a CNC4PC C11T
board with the 0v to 10v providing input to my VFD. It has worked
great for about 9 months. Today I tried to run the spindle. The
spindle speed started to behave strangely. First, the max voltage I
could get out of the C11T was 3.14V and that was setting the steps in
the motor turning at 190000. Previously I could get 10V with the
steps set at 1900. Another strange thing is the spindle speed drops
off very slightly when I move the mouse. I re-installed Mach 3
V.042.020 and ran the driver test, which came up excellent. I checked
the voltage to input of the driver on the C11T board and it is 14.96V,
the same as it always has been. I also checked the voltage adjustment
on the board next to the 0 to 10v output and it is still set properly.
This computer is not connected to the internet and is only used to
run this lathe. Nothing has changed since the last time I ran the
spindle, about 3 days ago. All of the other motion works correctly.

I am using Mach3Turn.

I contacted Arturo and he thinks it may have something to do with
Mach. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Vince

PS, I posted this question on yahoo groups as well.

General Mach Discussion / Limit switches
« on: December 20, 2008, 10:31:59 PM »
I made some limit switches from Hall effect switches.  I posted pictures and a description here:
http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?p=541846#post541846
The bottom line is they have a repeatability of +-0.00015” and cost $2.30 each.

General Mach Discussion / Macro
« on: November 29, 2008, 11:05:36 AM »
I need to have the M6 command in MachTurn modified.  I need it to do a G53 G00 Z-0.200, then G4 P3 as part of the tool change.  In the list of Macros i Mach I see M6Start, M6Startnew  and M6End.  Any suggestion on which macro MachTurn uses for the tool change and what the code needs to look like to add my commands?

Thanks.

Beta Brains / Brain program
« on: February 05, 2008, 09:31:55 PM »
This is my first Brain program.  It uses CNC4PC modbus card and Mach serial modbus to look at input 1 and turn on output 2 and 3.

Can we get a separate catagory called Brains programs where people can post their Brain programs (that work) with an explantion of what they are doing?  With a few hundred examples, people could either find one that works for them, or modify one.

Thanks
