General Mach Discussion / Re: Trouble getting Mach to run anything.
« on: April 26, 2007, 06:14:32 PM »
Thanks Guys.
I did look at the pulse engine and it was only the one. Did another reinstall after uninstall. The engine is working properly according to Windows.
I ran another driver test.
Here is a capture of the result.

Thanks also for verifying that the code does work.
The multiple part code actually runs great and exactly like I need it to for removing fixture screws after the cutting is done. Then I just send it home and remove the remaining screws. Then start all over.
The other code is actually a part that will get cut on a plasma cutter I'm building. It's only setup fr a mill at this point and not even correctly with the right dimensions and things. I was trying to use it to run mach. Obviously with no pulsing on this computer, Mach can't do much.
Thanks a bunch. How do I fix the pulse engine?
Is there something I have to switch in the Bios?

Well, I just ran a driver test and my computer does not seem to be pulsing at all.
I checked the jog at the keyboard finally and there is no show in DRO's.
Diagnostics also show no pulses. I find it odd that that wasn't more obvious to me.  ;)

So, how do I get this thing to show or start showing pulses?

General Mach Discussion / Trouble getting Mach to run anything.
« on: April 26, 2007, 02:01:32 PM »
Hey guys.
Just trying to setup a new system using Mach 3. My router machine is using an older version of Mach 3. It is working fine and running sheetcams g code without a hitch.
My trouble is getting new versions and even some of the older versions of mach 3 to run the same g code on just the computer. (New)
It gets down a few lines and stops and won't progress. I can't get the dro's to move. This is also using the ini file off my other system and the same gcode. I have been over this many times installing and uninstalling different versions and ini's and trying different codes. I am out of things to try.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch in advance. I know I am overlooking something.

Here are a couple of sample codes I am trying to run.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Setting different zero.
« on: December 31, 2006, 06:13:11 AM »
Thanks Graham. I plan on making or buying a touch off probe at some point. The limit switches I use are just cheap micro switches and I'm not sure they would be accurate enough.
I'm using a PC 690 router and when I change the bits, all bets are off. It's gonna have to zero at the fixture.  :)

Thanks Guys. I looked at that or actually just scanned over it today. It wasn't obvious that this would do it. It's fairly easy for me to set the z to the lower fixture. The upper one is where I would like some software help. I'll try your suggestion. Thanks again.

General Mach Discussion / Setting different zero.
« on: December 30, 2006, 07:54:12 PM »
Hi all. Been a while. I ran into something today and I'm not sure how to go about implementing it. I'm not sure if it's a Mach thing or I should deal with it in Sheetcam.

I have my machine zero set 3/4" above the actual table. I have a piece of 3/4" plywood mounted to the table and it is pocketed to accept my blanks for some dado's.
I make some other parts for different things that are nested in another piece of 3/4" screwed to the first. It's not exactly 3/4" between the two zero's. it's actually .7658. Question is how can I change the zero's when I change the nesting plates? Right now I do it hit and miss. That takes awhile.
I haven't researched many of the features in either Sheetcam or Mach, but thought maybe someone could point me where to look or what to set.
Tolerances can vary about 1/64th or so in my parts.
Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Softlimits

Can't you tell now by running a simulation? I think I have tried it before and the simulation said the soft limits would trip or something to that effect. "Simulate Program Run" on the Toolpath screen.

Now thats a move in the right direction.  ;D

I have the same type motors and the Xylotex as well. I use rolled ball screws on my shop made router with skate bearing on a steel track.
I recently noticed that I was getting some backlash from the Lovejoy couplings. The Gantry is very heavy @ possibly 150 pounds.
I had my motor on the X setup to run about 65 IPM at about 5.5 accel.
I swapped out the lovejoys for some solid couplers. I had to reduce my speed down to 38 IPM and 3.5 accel. No more backlash though. The machine was actually wearing out the rubber coupling in the Lovejoy.
To get my speed back up, I suspect its time to go with a belt drive on this. I feel the main reason for the need to reduce my speed was the slight misalignment of my motor to screw with a solid coupler. That should be negated with a belt, hopefully.  :)

It most certainly was helpful. Thanks a bunch, Brian.
