General Mach Discussion / Re: Version 3.042.003 Ready for testing.

Hey Brian,

With regards to this
4.)Review the 4th Axis CV and feedrate code to be suer there are no
other typos

Does this mean that the future will have my tangental setup A axis running with CV.

I have seen a video on you tube with a tangetal water jet running with Mach3. It got me excited so I spent the day cutting circles and tweeking motor tuning etc. Using the smooth stepper my max feed rate is 5000mm/min with it stopping after each line segment.

Please tell me that you will be looking at this ;D

I have read the threads in the SS forum of Homing issues

It seems that there has been no response hence my thread in Mach.

Some say it's noise??  but it seems a Mach issue as my previous setup with a grex worked fine

Gotcha!

If I have the regular small line segment code generated by cam for the X, Y and Z do you think I could do a excell spread sheet and cut and past from note pad the code into excel which identifies the X and Y, does the calc and set a A axis code on the same line??

Sorry I no programmer, this is all I could come up with.

SmoothStepper USB / Reference Axis???

Ok,

I beleive that Iam not the only one with referencing the Axises to home kind of problems using the SS. The motors seem to jog a little and the DRO's jumps around but in all there is no travel to home with the DRO's zeroing

Has anyone fixed this problem one there own or are we waiting for a plugin fix??

Thanks for the swift reply

I hear what you are same regarding the calculation of the A and the effect on CV as such.  I understand that Mach has to do this during the process of reading and outputing X,Y code.
I honestly wouldn't have a clue how Mach does it.  It is probably something like

X0 Y0
x5 Y5....Calculate, calculate etc.
A45
X5 Y10.....Calculate, calculate etc.
A90

Do you think that if it did this it would allow CV to do it's things
X0 Y0
X5 Y5 (Calculate) A45
X5 Y10 (calculate) A90

Do you think that a post processor tangential calculation for the A axis would be a better way to go and then let the CV do it's job?? Or am I totally not understanding CV

I really want to get this sorted out. If some clever person has a solution I would be happy to hear from them.

General Mach Discussion / Tangental control can it be better???

My Smooth Stepper is running my machine like it's on steroids.

The only problem is when I select tangental mode it switched to exact stop and with the feed rate I'm running turns itself into a butter making machine shaking it's feet off.

I would really like to have this tangental exact stop bug sorted out so I can run the machine it's been designed for.

If there are sme programers/moderators that can help out in this area I would ike to hear from you.

Here is a link to a average video I shot with my phone. The first part is with tangential off running 10000mm/min. See how smooth it is. The end part is with tangenial on. Same feed but due to code problems feed rate is reduce to 3000mm/min and it shakes it ass off.

I really want to run the A axis cutter in CV mode and get the A tangentai code that mach is sending out working.

Is it that the tangental A axis code that Mach generates is on a on new line ??

Here is a video

Looking forward to getting this sorted

SmoothStepper USB / Which BOB for the smooth stepper
« on: June 03, 2008, 12:58:26 AM »
I have been struggling with the GREX so it's tie to give it the flick.

Which bob can someone suggest. I wish to run high feed rates of +5000mm/min on a material cutting table using a tangential knifeJason

General Mach Discussion / Re: Step Pulse Won't Save
« on: June 03, 2008, 12:51:22 AM »
Thanks Brett,

I did find a short reference to it being set to 0 in the set guide.

The Grex is starting to frustrate me with it's lack of ability to deal with lots of short steps in the Gcode and also the fact tha I can only get my machine to run smooth with feed rates of 2000mm/min. I am also convinced that my A axis loosing it's setps over a large file size is also due to the Grex.

Thanks again for your help

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes I have tried what you have suggested and still no change. It keep resetting to zero. This may have something to do with the Grex???

Hi Carl,

I to are having the same problems and are specifically loosing steps on the A axis and I cannot change the step pulses, they are currently at zero and even if I do a restart they return to zero. I'm using a Grex also .

My Kernel speed is 100kHz and in the Grex config I have selected 32kHs for all the axiii. If I select higher settings in the Grex the max vel and acc decreases so I have left them as is.

Axis     Step/unit       Vel             Accell
X          50.5102       15000        1250     Servo with a G320
y           39.2857       15000        1500    Stepper with a G203
A          5.55555555   15000        1500    Stepper with  G203

My X and Y axis do not loose steps only my A. I have reduce feed rates to 5000mm/min and gone as high as 15000mm/min. The A axis looses steps to the tune of 5-10 degs when I have the knife removed meaning no load.

This is geting frustratiing. May be the cause is the Grex, but like your post says I wished to adjust these pulse setings and they do not change.

Thought anyone??
Jason
