That's probably what I meant! lol! I'm used to running hardware like printers and they all need drivers. I "felt" driver since this is an external device. Yes, if that's what I need to run my router, please and thank you very much for the assistance.

The USB controls the entire movement of the router. I'm unsure how to answer the question. The prior CNC was older so hooked up to my PC via a printer cable/parallel cable. Installing Mach3, this was no problem. The routers these days have done away with the old technology and are attaching via USB.
3 years ago I needed a driver for my 6090 CNC on my other computer since that attaches the same way. I dont remember where I found that driver

Hello!

I just purchased a new 6040 CNC that uses a USB port where my old machine was running off a parallel port. I have MACH3 already installed from my prior machine, and this new one did not come with a CD or manual. I have my 6090 running MACH3 on my other computer, and I remember having to download a USB driver for it. For the life of me I cannot remember what that was.
Does anyone have any info on how to get a driver working with my computer? I'm running windows 7.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 and Inkscape to Create GCode?
« on: November 20, 2018, 12:17:19 PM »
Hello everyone,

Here's another newbie! I purchased my 6040 CNC a few months ago and just got around yesterday to setting it up and trying it all out. I've installed my licence, no issues there. When it comes to creating Gcode, Inkscape seems to be a program that a lot of people use. I'm having issues getting it to work with Mach3 however.  No matter what the image or font size, it keeps pulling an error code "COMMAND TOO LONG".

I make custom tombstones and to ease the burden of using a Dremel, I invested in this wonderful machine! So, what I need it to do is engrave font and basic images that are clipart. I'd be learning to do the 3D images in the future, but right now I've gotta nail down the basic engraving.

So if you guys feel Inkscape isnt a great place to do fonts to Gcode, what program do you recommend? Or, if Inkscape IS a good program, why is it not complying with Mach3?
I'd search the forum database but that is having issues as well.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you want to see what I make, you can check out my stuff on Instagram @Cemeteryhaunts This way you can see what I'll be using my router for
