Mach4 General Discussion / Re: mach4 probe operation
« on: November 25, 2018, 06:20:17 PM »
Hi Craig
Thanks for the reply  it is a shame I will see if XHC is willing to fix the problem it really is a great controller
I want to retro fit some machines and they all use 24 volt relays and inputs so it just works really well as XHC is all 24 volt inputs and outputs and make life easy and the motion part seem to work really well and no problems there ay all so far

I have not got the spindle running yet it is a VFD and uses 0 to 10 volt  and a switching output I hope XHC has that part working   I will have that part working in the next few days if it does actually work
XHC is a very compact well packaged box if they refined the software it a bit more  it would be a huge success

regards Ray
P.S

I did look at all the model controlers you suggested in another post  and may have to go that way but they all are not a single package but have boards plugged into boards and all 0 to 5 volt an seem much more untidy and messy compared to XHC when doing a conversion it is nice to have single simple package and not bunches of cables  plugged inot a bunch of seperate boards each of which has to maounted seperatly as well

Mach4 General Discussion / mach4 probe operation
« on: November 24, 2018, 02:02:23 AM »
Hi
I have a XHC motion controller and using the probe function on the Z axis it will approach the switch stop when touched but will not retract and gets a error
I set up a led to see when the switch was on or off and this does not work it will work on any other input  just fine but on the probe input does not work if I go into control panel and inputs and where the probe is mapped and switch input active  over the led lights up so I am sure mach4 is reading the probe input

is probe  just a standard input could I use another input that is working and change the screen script to accept it as a probe or it the probe some thing different and I am missing some thing

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: XHC Mach4 USB motion board warning and info
« on: November 19, 2018, 03:16:21 AM »
Hi
I have just started setting up a XHC for Mach4 and so far  going pretty good
The program will only run with Wxmill  but this is started through the GUI it does not run under GUI /router  but I just used mill and loaded the router screen  and see that every thing so far works and works well though I am still setting up this router up

It seems to be a bit picky  I can't change units from inch to metric without problems but just have 2 program and tuned the steppers in both units  I would have thought you could tune say in metric and then just change the units and leave the tuning in metric bit is does not like it you have to change both the set and units to the same I am not sure if this is a mach4 problem or a card problem but either way it is a simple work around to have both programs tuned and ready to go and just start the one you want I use both metric and imperial  so need to do both easily
I will have the outputs and input working in a day or to and all 24 volts make retro fitting a older machine easy

Hi
I bought a XHC Version 5.10 motion card
I have not fitted it to a machine as yet  but testing found it will only work under Mach4 Mill  not router  would not run under XP PRO but mach4 does
I have a win 10 computer set up now but see lots of problems and XHC do not seem to be very helpful I am sure the plugin needs heaps more development I think I will purchase another motion card but what motion controller  works best with Mach4 ?
the XHC seems a good package  but it is not developed yet and think this may never happen

Mach4 General Discussion / XHC V5.10 usb controller not working under XP
« on: November 06, 2018, 03:35:24 AM »
Hi
I have XHC V5.10 usb controller and would like it to work under XP I have mach4 working ok but if I copy the plugin for this card to the plug in directory of mach4   Mach4 locks up and gives this message attached and also a dump file
I tried on a windows 10 computer and it works fine I have a MPG and the plugin for that works under XP and mach4 with no problems
any ideas
I really want to use this computer as it is a old small form factor type  and fits a spot on the machine perfectly and I do not think it will run   on win 10 as it is to old

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Tool change how does it work
« on: October 20, 2018, 07:34:44 PM »
Hi Thanks Graig
I have CNC a milling machine and used it for around 10 years but I wrote my own "G" code interpreter program  and used a PCI card in the PC  to drive it
It does work well but thought I would convert a CNC a router and use Mack4  and still investigating how it will work
My mill I reset the counters to a Zero point in the job and work on from there with a tool changer I am going to have to have a machine zero and a work place zero but have not found how that would work in Mach4 as yet
