Mach4 General Discussion / Re: touch probeing
« on: March 02, 2019, 10:39:08 PM »
I take back half of what I was thinking about XHC  I figured I had nothing to loose so pulled the sender probe part to bits they only have 2 battery's so work on 3 volts so any resistance is a problem there is a tiny little spike about 1 mm diameter that is spring loaded and hits a stainless steel plate to make the circuit the plate looked like it still had the coating of oil on it that is on the sheets before they are stamped i cleaned and sanded the plate with 600 grit and used brake clean to dry it  at 5 inched per minute feed the worst I can get is .0002" and most times within .0001" so its working and it is great to have a wireless tool setter  and it is working great ( for now)  so problem fixed  thank to any and all who replied

Hi Chad
I looked at that setter but it is 75 mm high that's 3 inches and on my router this would be to high though I did wonder about that post on the side and what it was for so now I know
I am going to pull the XHC wireless one apart and see what I can see who knows it may be some thing simple

Hi
I have a ESS controller but and it is a big BUT  the height gauge is a XHC wireless gauge I did some tests with G31 and 4 times out of 10 comes to almost exactly  repeatable  the other 6 times up to almost 1mm  .040" difference and I think it is the height gauge being flaky I can see the difference in height and with G31 could slow the feed   right down this made it better but still not good  or repeatable
I will try  another height gauge any idea's of a good brand I had a bunch of problems with a XHC controller  that was not a good experiance and maybe the height gauge is not much better

Hi
I am using a screen that came with mach4 and has a touch button that takes me to a new probing screen   but
i only use the z axis probe if I could get to say 3 to 5 micron accuracy I would be home and hosed
I will have a play with the G31 in the MDI   could you help with a bit of code for the z axis to run in the MDI

Mach4 General Discussion / touch probeing

Hi
I have a wireless height setting gauge for setting tool height  the probing function works well but is inconsistent because of Z axis over run I believe
Even when the feed speed is really slow though when slow it is not so pronounced  I would like to modify it so it is like the home limit switch  these find the switch then slowly back away till the switch turn back of
I have found the scrip for the touch probing but do not know how to fix it so it triggers on the retraction and set the height from that point
has any one done this and can help

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: PWM mode smoothstepper
« on: December 28, 2018, 12:03:23 AM »
Hi
Thank you very much
I had the spindle pop up box set as it came and it was a little small and covered the relay button  I was about to send you a screen shot as there was no button visible and found the problem

Thanks again I am back on track now thanks to you and your very quick reply I also looked at a YouTube clip and that was not the same I did not realize you could stretch the pop up box probably varies with screen resolution but it cut it out nicely and look normal

Well there is always some thing people who do not play with computers do not know what frustration is

Mach4 General Discussion / PWM mode smoothstepper
« on: December 27, 2018, 10:56:36 PM »
Hi
I am using port1/14 to turn on the VFD and this works  fine but can't figure out how to vary the spindle speed the voltage from the board goes straight to 10 volts from zero and I can't vary the speed

I use M3 to start the spindle and that's ok but the "S" command for speed does nothing the out put voltage to the VFD remains at 10 volt ( full speed)

any ideas of where to look the smooth stepper mention PWM mode but I have not found any where to enable it

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: inputs and probes
« on: November 29, 2018, 06:00:58 AM »
Hi
I will only use one probe but in the mach4 control panel it has all the inputs listed then lists probe and E stop  but what if I wanted to use input #1 as the probe input  or does ESS have a input marked probe and I have to use that one  for probe
if it does that fine and what I will do

But if it does not how would I assign input one to read as probe

Mach4 General Discussion / inputs and probes

Hi
I have ordered a ESS and C82
But I have been looking through the Mach4 software will I await its arrival and it occurs to me in the control panel the inputs section   the Probe  0 to 3 probes are dedicated and can't be assigned to other inputs is that correct ?
If that is correct I assume the ESS smooth stepper board will also have the dedicated input to match
The same apply to E stop and the XYZ home switchs

is Probe able to use any input if so where do you configure it

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: mach4 probe operation
« on: November 25, 2018, 10:28:35 PM »
Hi
more issues  the outputs seems to  be I turn one output on and cant turn it of in the mach4 software until a second output it turned on then the first output that was commanded of will then turn of
Time to cut my losses I could have lived with out the probing but  need outputs that turn on and off when commanded
I think i read of some one else had this problem as well with the XHC

The forum also has a problem where i still can't search  for other problems people have had and this would be very convent at the moment so i can tell what other people problems are and more importantly what answers they got

Still i always say people who do not play with CNC  and computers  do not know what frustration is
