Mach4 General Discussion / Panning around the Tool path sceen
« on: October 06, 2018, 09:36:44 PM »
Is there any way to pan around the tool path screen?  all I can do is zoom and free rotate.

FYI Mach3 and Mach4 both support helical ramping.
I use them all the time.

Mike.

Yeah I had the wrong post selected!!

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Max velocity for Nema 24 motors

Thanks guys!   On my X axis im so fast now its uncomfortable.  Is there any reason I cant run at a lower velocity?  I assume you want any velocity that is satisfactory as long as its lower than that 20% of max velocity?

Thanks! That's the same method listed in the Mach manual but Ive never experienced a stall.  Is it hard to miss?

I think Craig has given someone a good "formula" for stepper velocity before, somewhere on this forum.

But here at the shop, I keep bumping the velocity up a little at a time until the motor stalls; once I find where it is as fast as possible without stalling, I back off about 20%.  Works pretty good for us.

Mach4 General Discussion / Max velocity for Nema 24 motors

Hey guys,

Im setting up my motors in mach 4,  Ive got a routakit  HD with a stdr-4c controller with nema 24 motors. Im at 2000 units per minute (x axis) and it seems like its still running great.  I don't know what a reasonable number would be.  How much faster can/ should I go????

Just make sure you use th lasted the post and put in your personal post folder

http://cam.autodesk.com/posts/

Just type in Mach4

That did it,  I had it in there but forgot to select it!! I knew it was going to be a bonehead mistake

I just figured it out, I think.... My ramp was set at "helix" and im thinking Mach 4 doesn't support that kind of plunging.

Yes it is.  I guess my guestion should have been, Has anyone set up fusion 360 so that the output is compatible with Mach 4?  and in response to the first reply, I am asking there too.  This isn't a problem with anything its simply a configuration problem specific to MACH 4 and Fusion.

Hi im super new to all of this but, ive got a simple pocket drawn in Fusion 360 and when I run the post process the Gcode it spits out gives me "k word given for arc in XY plane."  Im guessing MAch 4 can only do arcs in one plane at a time.  So does anyone know if there is a way to modify Fusion 360 so that the code given is only arcing in one plane at a time?

thanks in advance,

Ok! were in Business!  I have motion!  What ive figured out:  I have a Soigeneris STDR-4C Ethernet smooth stepper.  That is built using a Gecko G540, yes it uses the same pinout.   I downloaded the manual and read through it and had my charge pump switch "on."  I followed the setup instructions, switching that switch off and BAM ive got motion!

Thanks guys!
