Mach4 General Discussion / Home and limit switches

I went to home my machine today and y does not work right, I shut down last night turned it on today and the Y axix heads for home 0 as always, it bumps the switch backs off and reverses right back into the switch putting it in stop mode. Can't figure that out.

I checked all my settings and nothing has changed since turning off last night.


I feel like i am chasing a ghost. Some suggestions would be great.

How do i set work 0 and how does that relate to offset settings?


Do i have to set offsets first?


Do i start the test program tap file in mach 4 from home 0?

I need some Help  with first test run
I am to the point of loading a test gcode file for the first time.
Where do i home the machine first or do i set 0 some where else?

I want to load the road runner tap file. This will be my first test.

Mach4 General Discussion / setting up mach 4 demo

Does anyone have the time to walk a DUMMY through the STEP BY STEP setup of Mach4 Demo or a site i can go to to find this info.. some of you have responded to my questions which i greatly appreciate! There always seems to be another term that comes that has several different names and here i go in another direction. We are not all as savoy as some of you think we are. Everyone starts somewhere. I plowed through mach 3 demo and decided if i am going to buy i should buy the latest greater version only being a little more cost .
Here i am with Mach 4 demo and it is very different to set up. Motion controller, Mapping, ETC. Nothing carried over as far as settings

All i need is a 1,2,3 step by step verbal video or pdf to instruct me on how to set it all up, I want to start doing things.
ArtSoft has a video tutorial fine, none of the screens and check boxes resemble the Demo screen that i have so that right there gets me off to a bad start and not very far before i am totally lost again.

Is mach 4 really this difficult!
I sorted through mach 3 demo and decided to try mach 4 seeings i will be buying a license eventually.Mach 4 uses some different terms and i can't carry over my mach 3 settings. The PDF mach 4 install/setup guide says and describes  alot of things and no info on how or what to set to.
There has to be a video or documentation sheet with step by step directions for Hobbyist's who want to use mach 4 router 3 axis and have very little experience  with the terms and technology involved.

I need some help?

I am a retired cabinet maker and trying some ideas for retirement and this looks and sounds like fun.

Mach 4 demo, how do i set up motors to run, connect, etc setup ion general.
