Just wondering how much experience the OP has in electronics, wiring and building CNC machines?

Typically the long axis is the X, and this is usually the axis that the gantry travels along. Some manufacturers like to call them the opposite, but I think the axis along the gantry should always be the Y axis, with the X being the dual drive axis.
People typically call the gantry the X axis when they operate the machine facing the gantry. I operate mine from the side.
Both mine are the same distance. X for me has always left right and Y front back on every machine I have owned. The machine I have now is the same? The software XML file came in preset that way and it works.
