Mach4 General Discussion / Installing Mach4 on Windows 10 Pro 64

I did a Search and came up with one post???  Going to try and use a Touchscreen Windows 10 Pro computer and Mach4 plus Warp9 ESS. Yes I know I need to keep the damn thing off the internet and I would rather NOT use Win10 but thats the only OS that lets me use a Touchscreen.

Suggestions or tips,, yes Mach4 runs great now… no issues.

Running M4 on Lenovo with Windows 7 Pro 64 and its fine.  Anyone either running a touch screen large screen size monitor OR a stand alone all in one computer touch screen setup? Suggestions or links to Threads already that have it covered.

I have screen prints of all the settings and I think but will confirm with the CheckList from the other side, But....

I have done a lot of pin assignments and the rest in the 233 Warp9 configure pull down. I can see the E-Stop button press but motors do nothing? 

So My Stupid question is that besides the Warp9 setup configure,  do I need to do it All Again in the plug down Control window?? I thought if you selected and configured the ESS that was the control setup?

I know this has been covered before, BUT since Search has been disabled here we go. 

Using Mach3 with Warp 9  ESS just fine on Windows 7 Pro laptop a Lenovo but would like to free up that computer for another rask. I have a Dell Latitude E5510 with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit I would like to use instead. Before I waste my time, Is this an option?    Running a 4x4 ft router table.

Yes I have been running CNC on my cinfigured laptops for years, not Win 10 however.

General Mach Discussion / No Motor Tuning Menu after Installing Simple Screen Set

Mach3  .44 version and using Warp9 ESS.  Downloaded from Downloads below the Simple Screen and wanted to use as I can see the buttons and screen much easier.  Now Motor Tuning in the pull down menu is missing?? I do have a full backup of it all but really like this screen set.   

Since this Simple Screen came from a school environment just wondering if the designer decided not to let students mess with certain menu items?

SmoothStepper USB / Ethernet ESS Mach3 and Buffer

Ran into an interesting problem, ESS Ethernet and Mach3 the approved version.  All is fine... ran some pretty complex g code  from VCarve Pro; and Windows 7 Pro on a laptop setup for CNC, not connected to internet, no power saving  and etc. 

What happens, I a running a file, and decide I need to change something.  Stop (not Reset) raise the Z and Home.  Rewind the file otherwise start from Line 1, rezero again... Cycle Start but it tries to run from where the file was when I Stopped.  The cursor in the Screen shows Line 1.

So is the answer I need to exit M3, restart,  reload the file and start over, OR is there a way to clear the buffer in the ESS or what am I doing wrong.  This is a new setup, two months old pre built,  pre wired control panel from CNC Router Parts online, installed on a Fine Line Automation Saturn 2  4x4 machine.  This is not my first CNC but my second Mach3.

Is anyone using Mach3/4 for serious machine control?


 I am seeing large 4x8 foot router tables with prices exceeding $20,000 and wondering what control system they are using and if one that used Mach3/4 could ever be considered?

General Mach Discussion / CNC Mach3 4 Axis USB MPG Pendant

Looking at the Remote Pendant that plugs into the USB port, sold by several venders, all look to be Chinese made.  Do they work? How does Mach3 know its there if I am using the UC400ETH.

This one was on amazon, CNC Mach3 4 Axis USB HandWheel Pulse 50PPR Optical Encoder Generator MPG Pendant.

I did get the UT400 ETH controller yesterday and have yet to try out. Zero doc's or paper came with it, no required circuit board connector to parallel port, no way to connect power via screw terminal, just some oddball plug connector.... not included. Not a happy camper. You would expect for $160 the screw terminal connector would at least be in the box!!  The rest of the connectors and cables I had ordered but they are required for the board to work.  The connector for power??  We no longer have a Radio Shack so If I can not find one in my junk box its another expense.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 on Parallel Vs UC100

I am new here but not to CNC, have owned and operated several machines and refurbed a Milling machine.

Question I have a Chinese router 6040 and its pretty darn nicely built and it worked out of the box.  Right now Mach3 Mill with some changes to the setup file and I ran about an hour long gcode out of VCarve with lots of movements and Z activity.  Its running on a parallel port but I am getting only about 14,000 / 15,0000 pulse rate. Windows XP 32 bit with ALL the power saving, updating, wireless and the like turned off. Gcode file ran without issues, Homing and the like flawless.  

Ok would I gain anything by installing a UC100?  More pulses equal better???  Or should I just count my blessings and get on with it.

Oh windows Task Manager never shows over 30% CPU usage even when I Over Ride the Feed Rate to 200%
