Tweakie, you have been immensely helpful.
But I feel pretty dumb now, even as a noob.
I went back to check my motor setting and x and z were set way too low! That's why everything was cutting in what seemed like millimeters instead of inches.
I changed everything to the correct settings and the files are all in the correct inch dimensions now, even without the G20 code.
So hopefully this will help some other newbie that finds themselves facing the same problem as me.
Once again, thank you for your time and help.

Hello
 Thanks Tweakie.
I changed it and it is running on the machine now.
However, it is running in MM when it was made in inches.

Tweakie, it's good that you resized it. But I bet we all have had a broken bit or two at the beginning. I reinstalled Mach3 and set inches as my units. I got the roadrunner file to work properly by typing G20 G40 G90 as the very first line.
However, I cannot get the file that I made and you downloaded and looked at to carve at inches instead of mm.
It was made in inches using Solidcam.
I tried putting G20 G40 G90 at the beginning of the file, but it didn't change.
 Any suggestions?

Thanks Tweakie. I am going to restart my computer and Mach3 to see if that helps with the G20 part.   If anyone had a screenshot of exactly how the file was edited and where the G20 was placed, that would be wonderful! I tried the scorpion gcode and it plunged my spindle into my sacrifice board and broke the bit! So i would advise newbies like me to be aware of this. I am going to try the other files shortly and keep my fingers crossed.

Here you go Tweakie.  I've attached the file. Thanks for replying and I hope you can see the problem.  I don't know if there is a setting in Mach3 that will make the program read this or not.

I have made a part in Solidcam. I then put it in gcode form. when I start it in Mach3 it will load fine. But when I try to run it, I get the error message "Cannot use two gcodes that both use axis line 30.
 How is this fixed?

I edited the roadrunner file and changed the very first line to G20. It is still engraving at the same small size. Should I change some other setting?

General Mach Discussion / Which tutorial to use?
« on: October 24, 2017, 06:15:12 AM »
I recently purchased a CNC 6040 and am going to set up up soon with Mach3. When looking around for instructions and tutorials, I found that they are all different. The cd istructions that came with the 6040 is not the same as the instructions from the manufacturer's Youtube videos. And Arcsoft's tutorials are different also.
So which tutorial have other's used for the 6040 to make it work?
