Bryanna will say, "run Mach4 as administrator." Not just from an "administrator" account, but right click, Properties, Compatability, Run this program as administrator.

You know me so well! I'll add in that you may need to disable any third-party antivirus software. Many of them cause issues with various aspects of Mach4 and I recommend turning them off whenever you're using our software--especially during a cut.

Recommend opening a support ticket with NFS, than can be a little slow but they do respond.

We always respond and unless you catch us on a holiday, the vast majority of tickets are answered within a few hours. Mind you, we operate on the East Coast and we're in the office M-F, 8-5. I'd hate to think that some users might be discouraged from reaching out to the helpdesk because we "can be a little slow."

The Win7 updates that have caused issues most recently are listed below. However, these cause a system restart when Mach3 starts (and the parallel port "takes over") or when the DriverTest is run.

April: KB4093118
May: KB4103718
June: KB4284826

Hello Jim,

If you have your profile saved, you just need to move it into the Mach3 directory folder in your C: Drive for it to be accessible from the Loader. Make sure it has a unique name (not Mach3Mill) and is in XML file format.

I'm not sure what you're using for an operating system, but it sounds like you might be activating its 'Sticky Keys' feature. Do a search of your Windows settings and see if that happens to be turned on.

Hey all,

#100 through #199 are safe for user functions but are not persistent, as others have pointed out. For a more thorough (and recent) list of what pound variables are being used in Mach4, check out the attachment below.

Hey Nick,

Thanks for catching that, I'll update my previous statement for anyone else looking for the update number.

Uguessedit,

Are you referring to Mill Wizard or the Mach3 Addons?

Arnold,

I fired up my Win7 testing computer and noticed a new update. I'm installing it now to see if it causes the same issue as the other two. It's KB284826. I'll update this when it's done and verify, but you might try uninstalling that if you have it.

Edit: KB4284826 does cause Mach3 to crash for parallel port users. It can be uninstalled following these directions (https://itstillworks.com/remove-windows-7-updates-8169897.html). Additionally, this is the third month in a row an update has affected parallel port users, so unless you keep your machine offline at all times, it may be worth considering an upgrade to an external motion controller.
