Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Steps per unit wizard
« on: April 25, 2019, 01:47:20 PM »
Update: This issue was resolved by deleting the .mcs file for the StepsUnitCalculator from the Wizards subfolder in the Mach4Hobby directory. That file still held the remnants of the older version of the wizard from before Greg updated to build 4162. After that file was deleted and Mach4 restarted, all is working as it should.

Hello Greg,

There is no 'OK' option in the StepsPerUnit wizard. What are you clicking before you get that error message?

If you haven't already, you should watch the YouTube video linked in a previous comment, which shows you how to use the wizard correctly.

If you see the error message again, post a screenshot if you're able to.

Thank you,
Bryanna

Hello Greg,

Can you tell me more about what you're seeing for an issue? How is it not working?

Thank you,
Bryanna

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: edit Cyclestop in screen

Hi,

To edit the screenload script, go to Operator>Edit Screen. Click the name of the screen at the very top of the screen tree manager. In the bottom, in the Properties section, click on the small Events tab (button with a little lightning bolt). The first item on that tab is the Screen Load Script. Click the button with '...' to open and edit that script. You can use Ctrl+F to search for the function you are looking for. As always, I recommend saving your screen with a unique name after changes are made, rather than altering the default screen set. To save your screen with a new name, go to Screen>Save Screen As.

Best wishes,
Bryanna

Would even be great to have the known enums in the scripting documentation and not "only" in the forum from a community Member.

This information is in the g code documentation included in the Help Docs folder in Mach4 under the entry G31/G31.X. It's not a hidden secret, you just need to read the manuals.

Hello,

1.) If your 6040 comes with a motion controller, it is possible that that motion controller does not have a Mach4 plugin available. If the control box has a parallel port connection, that opens up a number of external motion controller possibilities--many of which have Mach3 AND Mach4 plugins.
2.) On to the second point, you can have Mach3 and Mach4 installed on the same computer. I have both on several test PCs and often have both running together (though not when controlling a machine). Both Mach3 and Mach4 are available to download for free at machsupport.com as well and can be tested in demo mode.

I would recommend doing some research on external motion controller (I'm sure others can chime in with recommendations) that have plugins for Mach3 and Mach4. That will allow you to test both and decide for yourself which is the best choice for you.

Best wishes,
Bryanna

Keith,

The license download link begins to download your license file (Mach1Lic.dat) automatically. That link can be used twice before that error message is displayed. Check your downloads folder for the license file. If it was not able to download successfully during those two attempts, you will need a new link. Log in to your account at machsupport.com and go to 'Manage My Licenses' then click 'Resend.' If you have antivirus or similar software monitoring your emails, I would advise copying and pasting the link into your web browser rather than clicking it in your email. Some customers have had their AV software eat up both download attempts without allowing the download to go through, just by "scanning" it.

Once you have your license file, move it to your Mach3 folder in your C: Drive to install. The video linked below goes over the download and installation process as well, if you prefer a visual guide.

Best wishes,
Bryanna
