General Mach Discussion / Re: mach3 problem steppers wont move
« on: March 10, 2019, 09:35:05 PM »
Perfectly normal.
You need to click on [RESET] in Mach3 to start working.
First let us know what happens when you click on [RESET] in Mach3.
By the way do you have limit/home switches wired up (yet)?
Is jumper 3 actually in the  2-3 position and NOT in the 1-2 position as in your uploaded picture?
If jumper 3 is in 2-3 position, you will need to enable pin 1 in Mach3.

So I have a 12V relay board that I used to use with my Arduino. It actually has two relays on it and I'm using only one channel. The board schematic is like the one shown in the image:

some comments:
1. YOU need to use a (high current) "SOLID STATE RELAY" - not an electromagnetic type relay.
2. (std) Ethernet cable is UTP "(unshieded) twisted-pair" and cannot be used for this application. Proper cable with grounded coaxial shielding must be used for limit switches.
3. You limit switches are better to be made normally closed (with preferable higher voltage and always on) rather than normally open.
4. A 0.1uf capacitor should be parallel to the each terminals of the limit switch input and ground at the BOB (break out board) of each axis.

Since I wanted the relay to operate on an active high input, I tied IN1 and GND together. The GND here is also the LPTs GND. On the Vcc terminal where it says Arduino's 5V, I have pin 14 of the LPT connected. Across JDVcc and GND is an independent 12V supply.

Now every time I try to switch on the spindle, the relay clicks ON for a fraction of a second and then turns OFF and I see a 'Limit switch triggered' on the screen. Can anyone help me understand what is happening here?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 Set and Goto Variable Position
« on: March 10, 2019, 05:20:44 PM »
Hello everybody
Something odd happened to me:
Set and Goto variable position (in the MDI tab) do not work anymore:
X is fine, but Y and Z always want to go to the 0 machine coordinates.

I checked everything I could (macros and config) but everything seems to be ok.
I'm a bit lost...

any idea about the problem ???

Fred

I am only guessing.
You are probably NOT at G54 offset (ie. Work Offset#1)?

Mach3 under Vista / Re: Mach3 Ethernet IP setting
« on: March 10, 2019, 04:56:25 PM »
I try to make a connection Mach3 to CNC routrer via Ethernet (gives status: Find No XHC Nc Ether). I use a ethernet motion controller card with IP address  192 168 1 180. I have to set that IP adress in Mach 3. This should go with the menu "plugIn Control" accourding to the manual. Unfortunatly this menu only gives "Video Window"and no possibility to set IP address. Does anybody know what I do wrong ?

1. From your post, you appear to have not loaded a plugin for your motion controller.
try to download plugin from:
http://www.cdxhctech.com/html/edownloads/

2. Your PC should be in subnet of 192.168.1.0 to begin with.
Some DHCP assign other IP subnets IP address.
3. See attached to set IP address for your motion controller.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 and UC100 and Windows 10 64bit
« on: March 09, 2019, 05:17:00 AM »

But I was skeptical because the .net version they are using is ONLY version DOTNET 2.0.

XP does not natively support any version of .NET, so it needs to be installed, even for 2.0.

Windows 10 Creators edition & later (new installations) will preload DOT net framework 4.72 that has an SDK that will not support applications written for DOTNET 2.0 natively anymore.
That is why I was skeptical about UC100 that seems to have software written for the very old DOTNET 2.0.

Dotnet 4.72 must be uninstalled. Dotnet 3.51 enabled at control panel, then Dotnet 4.72 reinstalled offline to get window 10x64 working with DOTNET 2.0 applications.
TOO MUCH HASSLE for non IT professionals.

On CNCDRIVE info on UC100
"6.) Software prerequirements (install on Win XP only!)"
That is a link to a .NET update that needs to be installed when using XP. It's NOT saying that the UC100 is XP only.

Thank you.

But I was skeptical because the .net version they are using is ONLY version DOTNET 2.0.
Windows XP SP3 supports up to DotNet framework 4.0.
Windows 10 x64 now support up to Dotnet 4.72.

General Mach Discussion / Re: KX1 spindle direction problem
« on: March 08, 2019, 06:47:14 PM »
Direction pin for the Spindle of KX1 is PIN# 16 (see attached). Pin 14 pulse controls the spindle speed.
M3 and M4 should work.
Check whether pin 16 is working or not. Also check the physical relay.

"UC100 DOES NOT WORK WITH NOTEBOOK WITH WINDOWS 10 64 Bit & WINDOWS 7 x64" was what I read from someone at CNCZONE weeks ago. He said that only UC300 or UC400 will support x64 OS.
I am still wondering whether that is true.
OR it may be CNCDRIVE's trick to get people to use UCCNC instead of Mach3/Mach4.
On CNCDRIVE info on UC100
"6.) Software prerequirements (install on Win XP only!)"

Perhaps only a cheaper "USB motion controller" from China will work with MACH3 & WINDOWS 10 64 Bit & WINDOWS 7 x64???

Seig KX1 has a DC 500w Closed Loop Brushless DC Spindle Motor that drives the spindle with a belt.
Polarity just needs to be reversed either by physical wiring or some Mach3 settings need to be corrected.

Backup the current Mach3mill.xml (or other profile) and try to restore a past version of Mach3mill.xml.
If not please upload your current xml file to forum for others to analyze and help correct.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle won't start
« on: March 07, 2019, 07:29:07 AM »
The Kress 1050 is a 1050W AC "wood router" and NOT a "spindle".
You will need to add a BIGGER (>1050W) AC relay and do some AC rewiring to be able to switch on or off via software . Even then you will NOT be able to control the Kress router speed by software (MACH3)
Just do it manually.

Buy either
the DC Stepcraft HF500 with DC controller
or
a VFD drive with VFD Controller
so that Mach 3 or 4 can be configured to
turn on and set spindle speed
using M3 S********* (clockwise) or M4 S*********x (counterwise) and turn off using M5
