General Mach Discussion / Re: Inventor not generating m3 in gcode
« on: December 08, 2022, 07:50:46 PM »
It is so easy to just edit the GCODE file to add one or two line depending on material used.

e.g
M3 S16,000

Most CAD/CAM program will omit the M3 because some machines have spindles that must be turned on manually and speed set manually outside MACH 3 (eg a Makita or Dewalt or Bosch wood ROUTER is used). Some may want to spin the Spindle in reverse and need have to use M4 instead of M3.)

Confirm Mach3 configurations

Ok but what connect from bob and where to vfd? How to know this

I mean which pins must be connected for both side

If you are using the 5-Axis BOB, jumper for relay must be shorted. Relay is controlleed by Pin 17. Relay Closed when P17 is active.
Relay output connect to FOR and DCM of VFD (TOP ROW in picture)

0-10V output connect to VI of VFD and Analog Ground to ACM. (Bottom ROW in picture). Activated by Pin 1

You need a small 0.1uF capacitor between VI and ACM. Also the two wires must pass thru a ferrite core.

Set the VFD control function to external analog input.

Please download latest patched version of Mach 3
from
https://www.machsupport.com/software/mach3/

I think some Microsoft Windows 7 Update might have killed your version of Mach 3.

Disable your antivirus when you install Mach 3 - right click and run as administrator.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 Jerky motor motion when Using MDI input
« on: November 24, 2022, 04:31:24 PM »
HI,
I'm after some help with Mach3 running an XHC controller (ethernet), Fully licensed version

I've been through all the motor tuning and the machine (3 axis router) runs smoothly when running code and or jogging with arrow keys + shift.

I've seen multiple posts on similar issues but not found a solution that works on any.

When i try entering and MDI instruction or try to use go to zero, the motors get jumpy and in most cases lose their position very quickly.

This is very frustrating and confusing as I understand the motor tuning sets the max allowable speed and when jogging at 100% the movement are perfectly smooth.

G0 speed is probably simply too high.

(Get a WARP9 ESS Motion Control Card instead.)

Again thank you so much reuelt :) can you mention any controller to manage VFD?

... also I hope this admin can recommend me some non chinese controller, in order to get support in the forum

I think your existing controller may already be able to control the spindle but only in the forward direction (M3 only).
Please try it out yourself.

 (see attached)
VI= 0-10V analogue output
ACM = Analogue Common
DCM = Digital Common
FOR = Forward Direction

Work coordinates are different from Machine Coordinates and are defined under G54 (default) to G59.
Under G54, you move the cutter point to where you want the starting point to be and then set x , y and Z to zero.
Then only you start the G-code program.
You can always save the coordinates under G55-G59 so that you can recall different origins.

Unless you are using Windows XP, you will need to run MACH3 "as administrator".

General Mach Discussion / Re: Safe Z question
« on: November 22, 2022, 09:22:15 PM »
I *think* this is a Safe Z question.  Its probably covered somewhere here in the half-million posts but I'm in my 60's so time is precious.

I zero my machine,  Mach 3, Chines router.
I move the X and/or Y and lower the Z to zero it on the materiel surface.
I press the GOTO ZERO button, and the machine drags the tool accross my materiel without raising the Z accecc like it once did.
I have checked the box under "Safe Z"  but whatever I did 8 years ago doesnt work anymore. (I had to replace the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch recently).

Is there another box to xheck that i'm not seeing?

I wasnt the machine to , as it once did, raise the tool 1" before moving X or Y.

Thanks for your help!
Turn on SafeZ
SafeZ should be set to MACHINE COORDINATES (NOT to work coordinates).
So when spindle is at top, machine coordinate is ALWAYS zero.
So usually the safeZ is set to -5 mm (if metric or if using inches -0.2 inches) - MINUS 5mm or MINUS 0.2 inch

Thank You reuelt,
   I forgot to mention that my controller is different, i have the red BSMCE04U with just a USB connector.

Sorry, your BSMCE04U  is not able to control a VFD
You will need 2 external relays.

(this website moderators had warned me and forbidden me giving any tech support to any Made in China controllers users)
