PoKeys / Re: Pokeys57CNC, Mach4 and fusion probing - does it work?

Pokeys does seem quite configurable so I'd be surprised if it wasn't possible some how. I'm just a bit dense when it comes to electronics and programming.

PoKeys / Pokeys57CNC, Mach4 and fusion probing - does it work?
« on: March 06, 2017, 01:51:40 PM »
Hey guys,

So simple question before I go and break a probe - has anyone tried the built in fusion probing stuff and does it work with the 57CNC and mach4?

Cheers

Oh and as an aside bonus question: If anyone can answer this for me that'd be cool - I currently have an NC touch probe connected to the probe port... I use this for setting X/Y but as I don't have indexed tools I'm then a bit stuffed for Z. Is there anyway to also use a NO electric touch plate type setup to set Z-height of the actual tool without using the same port and having to reverse the switch logic each time?

unfortunately there doesn't yet appear to be a "boss" type function in the touch UI.

It is there under probing though, so hopefully they might add it to the touch UI too.

PoKeys / Re: Pokeys57cnc 10v spindle control only reaches 8.1v

sorry I see you have played with pwm but have you actually used the voltage trim pot on the card?

No the motion card on all the omio machines are only compatible with mach3...

It is however relatively easy to install something like the pokeys57cnc instead if you particularly want to use mach4.

Another request...

I see lots of people struggling to get a realistic RPM when using mach to control a spindle through a 0-10v output. I have managed to tweak the output voltage of my controller so that the end points are correct, but the issue I have is that it is not entirely linear.

So while 10v = 400hz (i.e. 100% for my setup), 5v seems to cause the VFD to go to e.g. 220hz rather than 200hz. You can of course compensate this by setting a slightly different rpm to the one that you actually want but that seems unnecessary...

It would be very nice if Mach4 allowed users to calibrate the spindle voltage output so that it follows a curve rather than a straight line - would certainly be easier than using modbus for a low level user that just wants a slightly more accurate spindle rpm.

Perhaps give 4 calibration points (e.g. 30%, 45%, 70%, 85%) and interpolate a curve from those points?

The external pull-up on v1.2 boards is not required.

Are you able to replicate the issue with probing? We are testing it now and can't make it fail.

NeoTO - could you please clarify this for me?

In the pokeys57CNC manual (26.9.2016) it states that "On PoKeys57CNC v1.0, v1.1 and v1.2 external pull-up resistor must
be used", but here you state the v1.2 does not require it.

I have a NC 3D touch probe setup on a v1.2 with no pull up resistor, and it appears to be working fine in the limited testing I have done... I am however concerned that I may run into issues at some point if I am not connected correctly.

Could you please let me know which is correct - your statement here or the statement in the manual?

Thanks!

Adrian

Should be easy to include then ;) haha

Is it really that simple including embedding the video and overlaying crosshairs?

If you would be able to help me implement it I would greatly appreciate it, or just a point in the right direction!

Cheers

I would love USB microscope support for zeroing similar to what one can do with LinuxCNC

Basically just embedding a video from a USB microscope using e.g. mplayer and some overlay crosshairs (plus a circle would be really nice), enter the offset from crosshair to spindle centre, click zero.

Quick, easy and cost effective way to get a pretty accurate XY zero position on a variety of setups.
