General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 suddenly having problems
« on: June 04, 2022, 11:45:00 AM »
I've suddenly been having intermittent problems with Mach 3 after 5 years of use for my router.  Jog stops working, auto zeroing Z axis won't move, odd extra stuff on tool path screen.  Closing and re-opening Mach 3 seems to fix it for a while, then same stuff occurs.

My setup - dedicated off-line old Windows XP box, Techno Davinci router, Kress router spindle, oem drivers replaced with Gecko 540.  Very simple programs, very occaionnal use - slotting and profiling banjo fingerboards, cutting and inlaying pearl.

This all started after I forgot to shutdown the computer for a month or so, and then it wouldn't boot up.  Discovered it needed a new CMOS battery.  Worked fine after replacing it, but then I started getting these problems.

I'm wondering if somehow Mach 3 got corrupted when the machine shut down?  Would removing and reloading it solve this?  If so, how can I save all my settings?

Just getting a grip on G-code.  I'm finding that code I generate with the Fusion 360 post processor inserts a G54 at the beginning.  So if I try run a part with a saved G55, it won't use it, uses the G54 anyway.  Am I mising something?

Can I just delete the line with the G54 from the code. any reason not to?
Does the code need to specify an offset?
Won't it just default to G54 if I don't manually choose a different one in Mach?

General Mach Discussion / Router vs Mill display config?
« on: February 18, 2017, 04:28:01 PM »
On a router the conventional axis orientation is  (y - side to side) and (x - forward and back)  . I'd like to be able to configure Mach3 in this manner

If I switch the the pins in config, or the connectors on the Gecko, I can get it to jog in the correct manner with the arrow keys on the keyboard.  But on the screenset the X and Y DRO's are still reversed.  Is there any way to change that?

Alternately, is there a way to switch the output of the arrow keys on the computer?

If i have to I could just retrain my brain, but it seems Mach3 should support a conventional router setup.
