Well, I am not a good programmer, but couldn't we then have a macro which "pre-processes" the CNC code before MACH executes it?
So this could put those special M codes right in place... But as far as I understand this would be in fact a post-post-processor :) If it is a seaparte macro, then at least we wouldn't have to write it for each CAM application individually, but rather run it for the post-processed G-code set, and then load into MACH3
So unless Artsoft makes this auto-tuning-switching a built-in feature of MACH this could be a useable solution, no? And if we use standard G-code programs, well, nothing would happen, it would run as earlier...

I had this idea earlier, too, but Art said NO... however I still think this would be not a big thing (probably because I have no clue what is going on when MACH runs...)
Couldn't we solve it with a macro or something??? This should mean switching a few parameters when machine runs...
3 would be enough i think: one for rapids, one for roughing, one for finishing...

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: Welcome to the dspMC/IP board

So then you say No-way S velocity profile unless Artsoft gives a boost to Quantum? :)
Do these command "positions" mean that only straight moves are done with the dspMC/IP ? Or there are circular commands as well and perhaps other features?

Thanks!

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: Welcome to the dspMC/IP board

Just started wondering...
MACH sends only trajectory data to dsp/MC/IP right?

Now if used with Mach, does it mean that I can use S-curve motion control, or it will strictly use trapezoidal only?

I ask it because I want to take advantage on some jerk control...

In detail, when I think about trapezoidal speed profiles, then the controller has to know which axis accelerates at which rate, and it has to synchronize these to each other in order to get an accurate toolpath.
Now with S-curve profiling these synchronizing calculations would be even more complex on the curves, no? So are these performed somewhere, in the controller? If not then it should mean that only trapezoidal velocity profiles are available during multiaxis commands. With or without mach...

Maybe a small explanation on "how it works" would be handful. Earlier I asked about some block scheme, or whatever, just to make tech. things clear.
Sorry for being so nosy :)

Mach3 and G-Rex / Re: G-Rex

Hello,

Is there a distributor/manufacturer for G-rex drives in Europe or in case I need one I should mail-order it? My problem with that would be the high customs and tax fees on the parts. (or in case of ordering a part is it possible to pay with bank transfer and on the invoice show a low amount (some 10 USD-s) so that no tax and customs fee would be charged on the parts? (Unfortunately I am not traveling to the states otherwise I would bring some with me :) )
