If I make a macro for M30 will that override anything that the software does
automatically?

The knife does not attach to the spindle. The spindles I use are just a high frequency motor with no encoder for indexing. The knife I have is a heavy duty exacto blade or a utility knife blade. The part that holds the blade can be removed and a wheel can be used instead.

This would need modified but take a look at this post.

Daniel,

Thanks for the help. I have a guy here that is good with the electronics side of things and will talk to him about making our own solenoid. I will go ahead and look at the mechanical side sense that is my strong side.

I did not think about something like an air chisel. I was still thinking in terms or an air motor. I will have to do some looking for things like air chisels.

Thanks for everyones input.

Daniel,

It is kind of hard to count. ;D I was just taking a guess. I can design a mechanical system but I am worried about longevity. I like the idea you had about using a coil and magnet. How would I go about figuring out what I need to do that?

I do not know the exact frequency but if you look at the link below you can see what I am talking about. It is moving up and down very fast. I would not be surprised if it was 50 or 60hz.

The travel only needs to be 1/16 to 1/18 inch.

Has anyone made a oscillating tangential knife? I have made the tangential knife but now I need to make an oscillating one.

Tweakie,

I am sure there are more appropriate places to post for people that have very personal physical deformities.  ;D

Steve,
As the people have stated above, I also do not know if it can be used while running a file. I would think there would be a way to do it though. You do have to be careful with wireless devices. The Logitech is a toy. The machines that I supply it with only go 600 in/min in any axis and the joystick only moves half of that. For the faster machines we make (1200 in/min and more) I do use a wired pendant.
