General Mach Discussion / Changing feed rate
« on: June 14, 2017, 05:01:36 AM »
Can someone advise if theyre having the same problem. When just running along a straight path (so y not changing) the feedrate varies quite signifiicantly? The feed you can see is changing all of a sudden from fast (1000mm) to slow (300mm) and then back up again  and the same when x isnt changing???

General Mach Discussion / Coordinates change
« on: August 11, 2016, 07:34:32 AM »
I can't understand this, after completing the gcode for a strategy it obviously returns to home x0,y0,z0. I then load the code for the next strategy which has been created with the exact same setup and run it goes to a slightly different axis than what's in the code. My only thoughts are that the motors have turned on the spindle so Mach thinks it's in a slightly different locations? I know there are times when this would happen but not during these occurrences. Please help.

General Mach Discussion / Strange zeroing occurrence
« on: July 12, 2016, 08:06:26 AM »
Once zeroing all axis' if I then press the go to zero button when away from zero it often goes to Z-5 or there abouts but if I then press go to zero again it goes to Z0. This only ever happens to Z and usually goes to very close to Z-5 but always goes to exactly Z0 when I press go to zero again.

This makes this function almost useless as it crashes the bit into the zero if there is material there.

Please help suggest why this would be?

General Mach Discussion / Z movement
« on: June 18, 2016, 04:43:58 AM »
Ive been lucky enough to have good suggestions here in the past and would really like to clear this up.
Im trying to do a chamfer and I know the chamfer width and chip offset is correct but I dont understand Gcode enough to know why it keeps moving down to around z-7 when Im expecting it to go to around z-3. Ive attached a screenshot to illustrate. I can only see z-2.8 which sounds about right but you can see by the DRO that its actually at z-6.9 so why is that??

General Mach Discussion / Very frustrated
« on: May 19, 2016, 04:42:31 AM »
I'm so frustrated, I thought I was finally getting on top of this before suddenly I cant get one toolpath strategy to work.

Basically I home the spindle, select the G55 offset load the g-code and regen the toolpath. Then when I start the g-code the spindle goes to the correct  x,y coordinates but then travels often to z=0 or near to it but then tries to go z effectively positive which it obviously cant do. It does this for all the g-code files which I have used successfully before so it must be a setting in mach3.

Ive attached a file.

Please help.

General Mach Discussion / Tool moving to random coordinates
« on: April 15, 2016, 01:38:39 AM »
This is very odd, once gcode is loaded and the head starts to move it moves correctly. However first I noticed if I am just entering code into MIDI (eg g0 x20) sometimes it moves correctly and other times it moves over a much greater distance even though the DRO still displays as though it has moved correctly.

I then moved the head to the location I wanted and just zeroed knowing I had excess stock to make up for any differences and ran the gcode, everything seemed fine though the z axis was incorrect so I left everything the way it was and just altered the z coordinates before running the post processor again. I ran the gcode and the head moved about 20mm away on the Y coordinate and started running as if the stock was right below it but it obviously wasn't.

Another thing, I think this is only happening in the Y axis.

Please give any suggestions?

General Mach Discussion / Specify machine coordinates
« on: April 13, 2016, 03:11:47 AM »
Hello first post from a newbie here. I found a post on here from ages ago about trying to specify a coordinate for the machine to go to. One post said press return not enter but theyre the same thing, another said make sure youre in machine coordinates which I've tied turning on and off. I've tried this in MIDI sceen and Program run screen but as soon as I press enter the DRO just returns to the previous readout?

Please help.
