General Mach Discussion / Re: Opto Isolator board
« on: September 26, 2010, 09:02:05 AM »
Derek,

Yes, you can cut the ribbon cable and wire the ends to the PoKeys terminals.  But wiring so many I/Os with it’s commons can become very messy.   That is one of the reasons why using the PoKeys core and mother board can be a good idea.

Derek,

If you want to use +24vdc logic on your parallel port, you may consider the C31:http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=245. If you need to use +24vdc logic on the pokeys, we got a couple of boards that handle +24vdc logic for the pokeys: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=54.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further assistance.

Thanks,

General Mach Discussion / Re: Parallel Port Voltage
« on: September 19, 2010, 11:37:29 AM »
I have been giving James support on this since he is using one of our breakout boards.  The problem is not associated to power on the parallel port because all of our boards can take 3.3 or 5vdc signals with power as low as 0.05mA.  The output is always +5vdc at 24mA (at least). The operating frequency can be from 100khz to 4Mhz (depending on the model).  The C10 can do 4Mhz without significantly altering the original wave form.

The most possible cause for this, may be that the board is not powered right, or that there could be a short of some kind, that could be draining the power, thus leaving some chips underpowered.

Other more rare causes can be: cables and parallel port, bad power supply, corrupted xml file, an hardware or software device affecting the pulse generation.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 and AhHa break out board

I have never seen the original AHHA breakout board, but I can tell you I have sold lots of boards to users doing the same upgrade.

Take a look at some options: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=33.

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Re: More than one MPG ?
« on: September 08, 2010, 10:32:23 AM »
Mach3 can read more than one MPG at a time.  You probably what to assign MPGs to different axes.  These MPGs can also come through different sources, like PoKeys or ModBus.

Phil,

What happens if you disconnect the LED wiring, and just test the terminal using a multimeter?

Please test this with different pins.

PoKeys / Re: New Keypads for PoKeys
« on: May 05, 2010, 07:00:52 AM »
Scott,

I got new products coming out and hope to publish over the weekend.  I will try to improve the pictures and documentation then.

Please send me a copy of the plugin so I can test it and send my comments.

Yes, the keypads will not have the “bubble”, you got an early prototype, sorry…  I got very few keypads right now, I will see what I can do.

PoKeys / Re: New Keypads for PoKeys
« on: May 03, 2010, 07:39:34 AM »
Scott,

Took note of your comments.

I agree the current design of keypads is designed to work together, as they have all the popular controls of mainstream CNC systems.  Please also notes that these keypads could also be an overkill for many PC based controls, which could opt for a simpler version, possibly with a different key assignment and functions, possibly for OEMs.  The idea is that the system remains as flexible as we are used have things with mach3.

I took note on your comment on the cable, I agree, I will work on it.  Thanks…

When will I have something to test?

General Mach Discussion / Re: 2nd parallel port pin (2-9) as inputs

Try a fresh installation of a previous mach3 version, probably .036.  ftp://machsupport.com/Mach/.

Make sure to start with a fresh xml.

Please send return feedback.
