General Mach Discussion / Re: Limit switches OEM trig
« on: January 17, 2011, 10:58:16 AM »
Court,

Please note the C25 only provides additional filtering to regular inputs of the Smooth Stepper (pins 2-9 on LPT2 are different), so the inputs should work as described in the Smooth Stepper manual: http://warp9td.com/documentation/SmoothStepperUserManualV1.0.pdf , page 25.  The input pins are pulled up, so you should run a GND through the NC connection of the switches, so it will be a ground signal what should trigger the signal.

Pins 2-9 LPT2 on the C25 work differently. This they are not buffered on the C25, we added buffering and Schmitt triggers like it is done in our breakout boards.

My recommendation is that you input those pins on LPT2 pins 2-9 and activate them with a high running through the NC position of the switch.  It is always better to use a high on limits and e-stop as if a cables gets pinched somewhere in the machine and it ends up making contact with ground, will trigger the fault immediately.

I will look for the post that you mention in mach support forum and place a copy if this there.

PoKeys / Re: Pokey55 and MPG issues
« on: January 11, 2011, 10:59:01 AM »
Zack,

The mystery is solved.   You got a board that you should have not.  The board should say revision 4.2.  Just checked and there are like 10 other people who got a R4.1 which should had never been shipped.

I will get a new board out to you today.

Zack,

I finally updated most of the information.  Please check your configuration with the new instructions: http://cnc4pc.com/Tech_Docs/Guide_for_setting_up_a_Pendant_or_Panel.htm.

I appreciate your feedback.

Rick / Zack,

The instructions currently given in the website are for rev 3, which uses the pinout on page 7 : http://cnc4pc.com/Tech_Docs/M2R3_User_Manual.pdf. The current pinout can be found on the manual for rev 4: http://cnc4pc.com/Tech_Docs/M2R3_User_Manual.pdf, page 7.

I will redo the documentation by the end of the week.

Rick,

Did you fix this?

There are some problems with the documentation.  the instructions for setting up the MPG are for Rev 3.  Some pins changed on rev 4, I will have to update the information.  If you want to troubleshoot it yourself, you just need to look at the pinout on the DB25 connector on the M2.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Keling C35 BOB
« on: December 14, 2010, 07:59:04 AM »
Dear Sir,

There are several connector boards for the RJ45 connectors used on the C35 and C32 boards.  Are you using one of these?

If you want, you can also cut an RJ45 cable and wire it yourself.

General Mach Discussion / Re: spindle speed control

Dave,

You may want to take a look at some of the options we offer for this: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=25.

The E2: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=287, is probably the easiest to wire and setup.

PoKeys / Re: PoKeys is working great! Thanks!

JH,

Have you seen the mother board and expansion boards we have made for the PoKeys? : http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=54&products_id=219, http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/index.php?cPath=54.

They make this kind of setups doable for a lot of people.

PoKeys / Re: PoKeys or Modbus - Need a little more IO
« on: December 08, 2010, 08:09:49 AM »
Matt,

If it is just a couple of I/Os, a second parallel port will do.  If your application is more related to HID and special functions, pokeys is the answer.  It is much more than just a keyboard emulator, handles all kind of functions and it is very reliable with mach3.  Modbus might be if you need very high speed encoder reading, or need to device to be kept running even after the PC is dead.

JH,

Impresive.  Did you wire all that using a single PoKeys with terminals?
