PoKeys / Re: Pokeys generates unsolicited jog

Scott,

So it is not a hardware issue.  You could have an OEM triggered to those functions.

Scott,

One more question, Are you using a plugin for this? or just controlling with with brains and OEM Triggers?

Thanks,

Scott,

I checked the items you ordered and noted that you do not have a Pokeys 56U, but a Pokeys 55.

Here are some thoughts:
-   I saw that you got an MPG10 and several other boards.  The MPG10 does not use pins 10 and 11, so you must be using it with other boards.  How are you activating it?
-   You need to figure out how those functions been activated.  The brains provided with the MPG10 do not call for step jog.  I suggest disabling all the brains and OEM triggers, and then start activating them one by one.
-   Check if a short in the wiring could be activating an unwanted function.  Go to the pokeys software and activate pin by pin, and make sure all pins are mapped like they are supposed to.
-   You can also click on view brain, and look for a lobe that calls for jogging.  See how it is activated.
Please let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Scott,

Nice job.  Is this something you are going to publish?  If you do I could offer the PCB and domes so people could make their own custom panels.

Scott,

I received your support ticket.  Thanks for the links.
I know double optoisolation can be very tricky, and we have had problems with this in the past.  I can assure you this has nothing to do with the problem you are experiencing now.  Depending on the board, some can optoisolated at 100khz and others at 1Mhz.

I presume this is the board you bought back in 2008.  Are you just setting this up now, or was it working ok and then it started having problems?

The problem you are describing makes me think that the board is underpowered.  Possible causes for this are:
-   Problems with the power supply.
-   External short draining power from the system.
-   Damaged chip on the board, which can create an internal short, leaving other chips underpowered.

I suggest you take a look at this guide for trouble shooting this with your board:

Please let me know how it goes.

General Mach Discussion / Re: MACH 3 Major E-STOP ISSUE:
« on: March 09, 2011, 09:11:46 AM »
Jeremiah,

I think I have document a little better how e-stop works on this board.  This is what is creating all the confusion.

Here is how it works:

- When the e-stop button is pressed, it does a hardware disable on all the outputs and sends the signal back to the controller.

- The microcontroller is also allowed to send an e-stop signal if something faults.

I think the problem you are having is that something else is faulting and the microcontroller is trying to send that signal back to the controller.

I think it is de drivers, please do not use software disable on the drivers and let me know how it goes.

Ignacio,

Nice job.  Did you wire all the electronics or did you use our expansion boards for this?

PoKeys / Re: Pokey55 and MPG issues

This happens when there is difference between the configuration in plugin and the pokeys itself.  You may want by clearing the pokeys configuration and starting with a fresh plugin configuration, then configure and test one thing at a time.
