General Mach Discussion / Re: M6 START Help, Z going into soft limits
« on: February 12, 2018, 04:43:18 PM »
Oh and another thing, the tool offsets are all in my mach tool library.  I measured them all with the Tormach height gage as all my tools are in TTS holders, even my digital probe.

Dave soft limits work in manual moves.  The Z DRO 1202 is -.5     The Z when homes is top of column, homes then trips the Z limit switch then backs off -.25 from home.  The Z Min in home and limits is 0.00, the Z max is -9.0.  The -9.0 is the max Z travel to about an 1" off the table.  For goodness sake I cannot figure out why this is happening.  Oh and a little tid bit, my M6End macro is shut off, in other words I have an ' in front of all words so its not coded.

General Mach Discussion / M6 START Help, Z going into soft limits
« on: February 12, 2018, 03:30:55 PM »
I have an M6 Start manual tool change script.  It works but the only problem is when I goto select OK the X and Y start to move in the right direction but the Z goes up and hits my soft limit setting.  Could anyone give me an idea of what might be wrong and why the Z does not go back to the original place at the start of the tool change?

Thanks!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 spindle RPM OFF!
« on: January 26, 2018, 01:21:54 AM »
Hey Thanks for the education on that!!  Ambitious I am.  I built a 12 Tool ATC carousel for my G0704 just to see if I could do it.  Everything is done just need to mount it up to the table.  The ATC cannot be mounted to the G0704 as it is too big (heavy) for the Z column.  I have everything drawn up in CAD for the ATC mount, just have to cut the steel and weld it up.  The whole enclosure was designed for the mill and the ATC.  I think I will forgo the servo spindle motor on this machine.  I want to learn everything I can on this machine then jump to a used Haas, that will be a while though.

Again Thanks for the straight talk I appreciate that.

Well your right it does not but for later when I want to put a lathe together, from my understanding it needs to be spot on.  I will have to do some more research on this very subject.  Correct me if I am wrong with the 3 phase motor and the VFD combo I will be able to do rigid tapping?  From what I have read that is correct but I could of read that wrong.

Well I know people who are getting the  speed they want using mach3 through a VFD.  Now how they are doing that I am not sure, but I do know that they are using a 3 phase motor.  Any insight would be good.

Oh am I bad I meant CCW not CW.  Thats what I was thinking that the mismatch would be to great.  I think the machine will be a whole lot better when I get the leeson 2.5HP motor mounted and run it with the Hitachi WJ200 VFD Through Mach3.  I will then be able to get what I want.  I tried everything that I can think of and nothing gets them to match, oh well.

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 spindle RPM OFF!
« on: January 25, 2018, 05:25:52 PM »
I put M3S1000 in the MDI and the spindle turns on and runs CW (which I want) but the RPM goes to 1250rpm.  I put a magnetic sensor on the pulley so I know exactly what the spindle is really spinning in RPM.  I check it with my hand held tach as well and its right on.   Back ground on my setup.  In the C32 instructions it says to run the spindle at max RPM (4000 for spindle) and adjust the trim pot for 10VDC, I did that.  When I tell Mach3 to go too 4000RPM it goes to 4100RPM.  Very confused on how to make this RPM match the requested RPM and help or ideas would be awesome.

CNC4XR7 designed the ATC screen, Offsets screen and the bitmap images. CNC4XR7's  macro keeps track of the tools in the carousel along with the tool table in a way that I have never seen.  To run the Tool side of the macro was explained to me but I cannot share the program since it is not my property.  The macro keeps track of what tool is in the spindle and will place the tool back in the slot that it came out of when the Gcode calls to change tools.  If the tool 2 from the tool library came out of slot 4, when the Gcode calls for a tool 3 in slot 10, the carousel will rotate to slot 4 first to drop off tool 2 then go get tool 3 in slot 10 and load it in the spindle.  If I want tool #5 that is in slot7 having a touch screen I just touch on the red #7 for slot 7 and the carousel will go get that tool and load it.   I can share how the body of the macro and what it is doing but not how the tools are slected from the tool carousel.   Terry helped me with the initial macro and taught me what and how to use VB.  Without these two outstanding individuals and there knowledge, it would of taken me a life time to figure out how to make the M6start macro run the ATC.  Well I will post when I progress more.  Thanks for reading.
