General Mach Discussion / Random Direction

Hopefully a newbie problem But when i try to move either the X or Z, it will change direction randomly.  So if i were to be at the center of the table, and push right arrow, to move in that direction, it may go right (+) or left (-), and the same goes for the Z axis.  Any thoughts?

Hi everyone.  I'm new to CNC and just got my first machine.  I decided to get one of the 3040 machines off Ebay, so with fingers crossed, hoping to have a good experience at least on a novice level.  I have been designing, and re-engineering machines for many years, but any experience up until now in machining has always been manual.
Anyway, glad to be here, and excited to get started
