To OP

you will need a compatible motion controller to run mach4

this could be USB or ethernet. and you may need a BOB not all motion controllers need a BOB

as you have Mach3 running it would seem that you will have a BOB

as Chaoticone. posted you will need to read the manual then reread it , also the motion controller manual needs the same reading they are all different

the one that I use but others are just as good is the smoothsteper ESS and a C25 BOB , the SS will need its own dedicated 5 VDC supply at approx 2 amp

just some points to ponder

and yes I have done the very same migration due to a duff Far East motion controller , but I am a electrical engineer to Phd so the lecky bits were ok , I am very pleased with Mach4 the mill runs much smoother ( may be down to better motion controllers )
one final point download the Mach4 manuals and the ones for a range of motion controllers before you spend any cash
good luck

I seem to be having a bad communication day

yes I hear you I need a lic. but when I try to by one it requests a PID number to tie it to my pc

but where do I get the required PID is it the one from the Mach4 about drop down ?

I have look and I cannot find anywhere to obtain the required information

steps taken download the file, run the installer , start the mach4 loader , select the mwmodual profile , press OK , get Failed to loadmwsim.m4pw library ( error 0 completed successfully ) now where do I go to get the info that your lic. purchase page requires

Houston we have a problem

As I said in my post it will not load the dll library files DTG has tried also and failed to get it to load

Now the problem it will not load after doing the install , yes I get the green screen

But where in the blue blazers is the drop down menu option to get the PID so I can buy a lic.

All your other offerings have an about tab with the info on them to get the PID and to install the lic file

A very confused Stuart ;D

Thanks for the reply

But that does go against the rest of the offerings try it and if you are 100% happy then buy the lic.

I will give it some thought to see if the pension can support it  ;D

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach 4 stops while running program
« on: May 16, 2017, 12:13:10 PM »
As a quick and dirty test

Air cut the program with the spindle off if it still stops the problem is elsewhere

Now this is not to say the spindle is totally in the clear

You could have more than one mode of failure rather than a common mode one

It is always worth while to Earth the chassis and any enclosures ( equiptential bonding ) this can help

It is a real pain to sort these problems out but you must be methodical change only one thing and test and so on

Steve

Is the m6 macro in the macro's folder in the profiles folder

If it is then look at the gcode I have found that some post processors format the m6 in a strange way

I have
t1 m6 on one line
And
G43 h1 on its own line

M4 can have a history fit if the g43 is mixed in with a move command
