Thanks Gerry

Darn this spell checker I may be dyslexic but I think this iPad is worse

it could be a few things

try a small amount of debounce on the price pin
try a slightly faster approach speed

it looks like the probe signal is being miss read and mach 4 thinks ( I know it cannot think ) it is seeing 4 strikes

in the past before W9 got the ESS to do probing correctly mine drove the probe down in Z trough a 12 mm MDF test piece and smashed the probe tip ( its not a simple touch one but a 3d probe with a hammier probe tip that I made )

And that is exactly why I am really starting to hate this DIY hacker crap.  Went through all the this same crap with the pokeys57cnc which was a total wast of time and money.

Maybe you are blaming the wrong things

Are the jumpers on the ESS set to power the Bob?

I have a C25 and it is only port 1 and 2  not 3 so how are you connecting to port 3 pin 26 and port 3 pin 13 ?

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Motion Control
« on: July 04, 2018, 06:18:11 AM »
Caveat emptor

Get them to put it in writing that the machine is 100% mach4 compatible ,else you are in for a load of hurt

A typical motion controller is £ 180 and £25 for a decent BOB beware of the very cheap BOB’s

Sorry Craig I need to go to specsavers

To the OP

Do you have all the equipment equipotentialy bonded with at least a wire of 6mm csa

You need a good odd order harmonics filter fitted to your spindle drive input it the 9th harmonic that does the damage

All low level signal cables should be shielded with the braid only bonded at one end

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: mach 4 demo setup and try.
« on: June 09, 2018, 01:55:18 PM »
i am under the impression with 4 that only one machine can be used with the license. Hence 2 machines 2 licenses, etc.

What i see as my need to be able to create and test run on my laptop and then when i get back to my machine i am  run ready.

4 seems to be a little more user friendly than 3., although limited to run time for me to test anything in Demo mode.

Even with the uc100 installed i do not get to try all the demo adons or test tool paths without timing out. The impression i have from the artsoft 4 description of product i should be able to run the add on features as well as the standard features in demo with controller installed.

What am i missing???

Ken

you can have more than one machine per purchase you can generate up to 5 lic. with different PID

I use one of mine for the WS mill and another for the test setup in the house so I can customise the screen set

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Flickering Feed and Spindle RPM DROs
« on: June 02, 2018, 03:55:38 PM »
My feed rate dro does vary slightly when x and y are interpolating but on a single axis is remains steady it does not indicate the programmed feed tho eg programmed feed rate 100 dro 104 but never drops to 0 only when motion ceases

I have my speed dro set to display the commanded speed , and it will reflect the change of the slider

I use the hobby version ( as a pensioner and only use the workshop for personal use it is ok for me ) note I normally work to a 0.01 mm tolerance but it’s small stuff so as you know it’s got to be close to fit , I have extensily modded the screen moved stuff around toned the stark colour scheme a lot , implemted the h offset toggle to the fixed portion
