Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Hybrid Stepper Setup in M4

I am no expert but that sounds awfully like back lash 10 clicks to see a measurable movement then is very repeatable after that

Its repeatable after the first 10 clicks because you have taken up the backlash in the system ( I mean mechanical backlash )

Are those trapezoid screws

My books list that size as a trap.

But I cannot find any ref to 4 start ball screws

But of course I stand to be educated

If they are traps. Then that may be the cause of your errors

Yes it’s the XHC controller

I had a leafboy and it was just the same

Have a look at machstandmill site

In the manual it’s explained as well as a circuit to do what you want

If I remember you use the timer input for the second probe

Good that you know the risks involved

Also glad you have it sorted

There was one build a long time ago that nearly caused a cars for me , I have my mill in metric ,the problem was jog down incremental mode set to 1 ok first time then next it went down 25.4 mm

You do realise that the ones on the ftp site are beta not release ones

It clearly states the these are not fully tested

Try 4804

Great post Craig

Nice to see someone who thinks like me cure the cause then add the frills

Same as backlash cure the mechanical problem first don’t try to cover it up with band aids

Next question

Is your machine calibrated accurately, ie if you cammand a say x movement or y and z does it acurratly move that distance

Another thought is the cutter dia. The same as in the wizard

Yet one more is the z WCS set up accurately

Sorry for all the questions  but I am trying to get a picture in my mind of what you are seeing and doing

Ken

A quick question

Have you actually cut the result of the wizard into actual material or are you just looking at the simulation/or wizard screen output

It could be if it’s the screen you are seeing this is a graphic problem rather than a cutting problem

If you have cut this output and it’s wrong then disregard my comments

Have a look at the usage of quite a few threads some have not been used for ages , maybe time to get the broom out and clean things up

As others have said a button to take us here

Very political the general layout now looks very dated in comparison to the main pages those big labels hot topic etc . Are very 60’s
