General Mach Discussion / Re: Can't zero DRO or home more than once??
« on: November 16, 2015, 07:17:09 PM »
So no replies I'm guessing means this isn't something obvious.
I'll try to reinstall and start from scratch.
Thanks for the help!

General Mach Discussion / Can't zero DRO or home more than once??
« on: November 15, 2015, 10:55:56 AM »
Just built a new machine, using Mach3 and parallel port. I want ethernet so bad!!! But anyway...

So I'm using a G540. I have everything connected and the machine moves as it should. The only problem I'm having is if I ref all home, they all go home, then if I move and try to ref all again, it won't work. Meaning it does nothing. If I cycle the reset, ref all works again.

Same thing with zeroing the work coordinates. I can zero once, then if I make a movement, try to zero again, it does nothing. Cycle reset fixes it.

What did I miss???
I saved the config from my old machine and compared to the new, I don't see anything that would cause this.

Just noticed this too, If I zero WCS, then move, then reset, then go to zero one axis, they all zero?

I'd like to add also, "Run from here" doesn't set spindle speed as it should.

Why not use the joypad plug-in and set a button combo to run the script?

Look at it like this. IF  I were talking to you in person I would NOT say  Capital H   otkey. I would say HOTKEY if I wanted to emphasis the work hotkey.

If you start using the programmers way of just using the First Letter of Each Word then people would THINK you were a programmer.  I do not want to be mistaken for one of THOSE dudes. (;-)

That is a joke by the way, (;-) TP

See.... that one read perfectly to me, and then you go and tell me it was a joke!!

Just curious... what's with all the capital words? You do that all the time, just wondering why??

I ALSO do it LOL.

No doubt Terry does it for the same reason as me, emphasis, but I thought that would have been obvious. Hope it doesn't irritate you.

It would be obvious if it were for emphasis but he seems to capitalize the oddest words for emphasis... like HOTKEYS, AS, CREEP?? lol, just find it odd.

I should say, because people are so sensitive on the internet  :P , that I don't mean any offense, just found that reading, You say his name is Terry, his posts is a very weird read. When I see capital words, I read them as emphasized, and it just doesn't correlate. I was just curious.

I run a mouseless system here. I use a Waterproof keyboard that has a jogstick for a mouse AND it has 24 Fkeys.  I paid $25 each for the keyboard.

I set up HOTKEYS for the majority of the needed functions AS MACH3 is NOT  Tab key freindly, Actually it cannot tab as that was assigned to teh Jog flyout( bad choice)

You can also use a touchpad style keyboard that is like a laptop.  OR add a seperate touchpad(usb)

The problem with trackballs is due to vibration they tend to CREEP all over the screen.

Yes you can load files directly from a USB stick I do it every day and NO it will not cause you problems.

I also use a barcode scanner to scan in program names.

Mesa / Is anyone still using Mesa boards?
« on: August 14, 2015, 02:05:10 PM »
Just wondering how solid the plug-in is, and what boards are supported?
I really want to go with an ethernet controller, tried the ESS and it was total garbage, so I see the mesa boards are highly recommended by the LinuxCNC crowd. Might be an option if the plug-in is solid also.

I had all kinds of problems with the ESS, sent it back after a week or so. Almost impossible to get any support for it. I would classify it as a definite Beta product at this point and it doesn't look like that is gonna change for the Mach3 version anytime soon.
