General Mach Discussion / Re: Stepper motor acting funny

You have steps per set at 66 in motor tuning page?  How many steps per rev does your stepper motors do? Normally steppers do 200 per rev.

W7 64 bit will not work when you use the parallel port, it will work however if you use a motion controller via USB

General Mach Discussion / Re: Can anybody help me with these problems

Yes, you have to delve deep into the system to remove all related files to Mach3 before reinstalling it, there is some help in the forum pages regarding exact location of the hidden files, but for the life of me, can't remember where, sorry.

Does it happen on a particular job or any job? Does it do it when manually jogging? Post more info Peter, especially your XML file for others to diagnose.

Sounds like a PSU issue?

Check output voltage at start and watch it and see if it starts to dip when the fault occurs.

More info would help though - machine/PSU/PIC/Gcode and pictures. It all makes identifying the problem a bit easier.

General Mach Discussion / Re: CNC mill has mind of it's own

I would do a complete format of your hard drive and re-install XP up to service pack2 (someone may correct me on that), then re-install Mach3 and associated drivers purely for the CNC you run nothing else, complete bare bones means that.

I think you'll find the BOB powers the opto's on the BOB side, your switches need wiring from pin 15 to ground as stated, it looks for the difference in potential.

How about this, maybe a bit overkill but darn accurate!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Losing Zero

Sorry for asking the obvious but you bought this as a ready to run unit? If so has it run ok from the start and then the problem arose or has it done this from day one? Have you done any alterations to it? Any details of the electronics (stepper drivers,PSU, etc) how is it connected to PC or is a built in unit? The more you can show and tell the better chance someone may find the problem. Another check the forum guys can do is look at your XML file, copy it from the Mach folder and post it on here.

OK Russ, these are NEMA 34 motors, unfortunately without any details on the ratings we can't check if you have the electronics set up accordingly.
Did you buy the machine brand new or second hand?
My suggestion is to contact  the manafacturers directly and see if they can give you direct support, we can only guess and estimate with the details you give us and it can be frustrating for both sides.
Hope you get it sorted Russ as it does look a neat machine.
