Mach3 under Vista / Re: Windows 8 and Mach 3
« on: July 16, 2015, 12:57:14 PM »
I have Windows 8.1 with Mach3 and UC 100.
Can't get liscense to work with Mach3.  Always comes up running demo.
Demo axis numbers change with up/dn keys etc., but milll motors nothing.
I tried to post a new subject and had no luck with that.
Thanks for any help.

I bought the same, but a  3040T-DJ.  I am convinced that there must be some software that makes the G codes from a drawing and will make the machine work as we expect.
The parallel port requirement is a bit of a problem.  I have a Windows XP computer which allows Mach3 to control the machine with manual or with demo G code files.
Now all I need is a drawing and g code generator in a program to proceed.  Probably have to run in XP.  If you find one or progress to making yours do what you want, I would be interested in anything useful that you learn.  Thanks and good luck.
I think success is failing and failing and not giving up.

I am new to CNC.  Found that Mach3 is popular and am using the demo.  I have a 3040T mill, router, engraver.  3 axis.  It works with the mach3 with one little problem.
When I push the X axis buttons they are backwards.  Right button makes the tool go left and vise versa.
I have been retired for 15 years from heavy equipment operation and earth moving contracting.  Now I make a couple of products with lathe and some milling with an old Harbor Freight mill.
I don't need the cnc for those machines.  I recently developed an automatic controller for a Ham radio motorized antenna that I build.
I need to be able to engrave some printing and labeling on the front and rear panels.
I am looking for a good program to draw and produce the G codes.  The engraver uses a parallel cable from my old Windows XP computer.  So the program I need has to be able to run on the XP.  I like the Mach3 program.  Can't get much done with the LazyCam program though.  Any suggestions for a simple program to do the drawing and G codes?
