General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 screen not working
« on: May 13, 2015, 12:02:40 PM »
Hi Hood,
sorry for the late reply. I had tried to re-install my XP OS only to realise that Microsoft does not support it anymore. And Mach3 refuses to work with XP service pack 1.
I have to find a copy of XP OS service pack 2 to install.
At the moment, the DRO on Mach3 will change when I click on the relevant jog button. However, the stepper motor is still not working.

I have configure the pins according to the tech support of the xylotex whom inform me that the pins are active high.
Attached is a copy of the XML file.
Please kindly help. Thank you.

Can you attach your xml please and I will have a look through that to see if there is an issue.

HI Hood,

yes, you are right! it is a PCI type parallel port that I plug into the mother board.
the address range is like from C100-C107. So I just put 0xC100

C100 seems a bit strange for a PP address, is it a PCI port?

Hi Hood,

I look at the Ports and Pin setup page. It does have the X, Y and Z axis set and ebled. And I make sure by following through the mach3 manual again.
Also, for the port address, I noted down the address in the device manager. It read as C100. So, when I enter into mach3 page, I use 0xC100.
Sounds right?

Sounds like you may not have Mach configured correctly.
In the first instances you mentioned it sounds like you did not have any axes enabled in Ports and Pins.
In the latter instances it sounds like you may have the wrong port address set.

Hi,

anyone using mach3 with xylotex board?
my laptop died on me recently and I took out the harddisk to hook up(through USB) to a different PC

And after I tried to install Mach3 on a different PC(with a PCI parallel port), it didn't work...
1) When I pressed the button on the Jog panel, the onscreen DRO did not move at all.
2) When I tried using the millwizard, the screen will pause at "verifying path" and will not proceed until I press the <cancel> button. (sorry I am writing this base on memory what i saw last night)
3) when i pressed the cycle button, it did not start the stepper motor
4) also, whenever I start the Mach3, it will be at the E-stop. I have to go to the configuration to uncheck the "E-stop" and save it. After i close Mach 3 and re-started, the software E-stop will be on again. It did not save the configuration. I checked the XML file and the attribute is not set to Read only...

I then tried the mach3 on a laptop with built in Parallel(very slow computer).
1) the DRO will move when I jog,  but it is not moving the stepper motor a bit.
The mach3 will not communicate with the xylotex.
but the controller is still "holding" the stepper motor well when I power up.

The drivers in the OS device manager is working fine and there is no conflicts in there...(no X marks)

Anyone can advise how to resolve this?

By the way, I am using the mach32 to control a Xylotex which in turns control the stepper motor for a Sherline mill.
